Whilst he had good reason to be frustrated, he comes off poorly there. The journos are pushing his buttons and he is continually falling for it.

How could you possibly think it's a good thing?

One of the most infantile, displays i have ever seen in a press conference. Great impersonation of a grown man acting like a child.

Should be fined and worse.

Also hilarious given he's a dirty grubby coach, of close to the dirtiest grubbiest teams in the comp.

No right to winge whatsoever! Get's away with murder every week.

How is what he did bad? He spoke the truth, they truly did get robbed. That Matai "No Try" was a Try any day of the week. He spoke the truth and there is nothing wrong with that. If Potter did it you would be happy.

If he was Wests Tigers coach I wonder what he would have said to Benji during the past week or so. Let's face it coaches like Hasler, Bellamy and Toovey certainly get the attention and respect from their players.

Good on tooves,Melbourne get every call going all the time .cronk should have been binned yesterday , nd the game would have panned out differently , against us the storm got 8 penalties in the last 20 ..Matai
scored no doubt in my mind ,and the 6 piggyback penalties out of their 20 made it so south s had to finish better ..I'm sick of seeing the men in pink decide games of rugby league

Interview was great, although what an almighty sook, manly were in front at half time and couldnt hold on to their lead, every game they loose the ref gets the blame..raiders scored a great try on the weekend to have it taken away also when the scoreline was close but no one wants to hear about that that one, suck it up manly you grubs.

Matai's no try was a no try under the new rules. It was probably grounded over the line but you couldn't physically see it, and since the ref had called no try, it's good that it wasn't a try. These rules were put in place for good reason, and I'm glad they're there

He may have had good cause to whinge but so does every other coach at some time during the season - personally i think he is a sook - Manly have cultivated a team of whingers - with the NRLs biggest on field whinger, Jamie Lyon leading the way.

I think the NRL coaches are the worst losers of all time. My belief is that the type of "interview" that Toovey put on should cost him $50k.

I am sick of it. It is done ONLY to get a better go from the referee over the next few weeks. It is a ploy of the worst kind.

We as Tiger supporters should be up in arms because we are the type of team that will pay the price of Toovey's rant. All the lower placed teams become sacrificial lambs for these rants.

Poorly handled, but he's right. Deserves a fine but he's right when he says the refereeing ranks need to be investigated, they're getting worse year on year.

Although your right I can live with a refs call but the video refs have gone from bad to worse

It is a ploy, but if it didn't work for the coaches they wouldn't continue to use it.

It's a GOOD thing. There is no proper direct feedback into how the game is refereed other than coaches complaining and the media spotlight it generates. The simple fact that rugby league as officiated in the NRL is a basket case with no consistency within games and across multiple games.

Take the ruck for example, every single ruck can subjectively be penalised for some sort of infringement, from not played the ball correct, markers not square, players lying on the tackle, offside, playing on after been called held (Asotasi v Manly) etc etc etc
It is not good enough, the fact that nothing has been done suggests the NRL intends it to be so, which hampers the credibility of the sport.

Until the NRL seriously tries to streamline the rules it will always be a serious problem, it will never be totally fixed but can be improved much more than it is currently.

I don't see why referees should be free of criticism.
If anybody else botched up their job as much as they do they'd be sacked.

The video refs are getting more and more decisions wrong. Sometimes I find myself stunned at their rulings.
Tooves looked like he was going to blow a bloody O ring but he did have a point and it is frustrating that the refs appear beyond reproach when they are making so many blunders.
