Des was at My mates 18th way back when cos his dad was friends with him or something.Des also goes to clubs who are struggling and turns them around almost immediately.
He's a legend.
We could do a lot worse eh (like presently)

Agree. We’ve screwed ourself. Not only do we have the worst coaches in the league, we locked it in for 5 years. Justin Pascoe “we didn’t even know if Benji could coach when we signed him”. For a CEO that is negligent and he should be sacked for that act alone. Also Justin Pascoe “we’re doing really well off the field financially”. Well Justin, we are going to need some of that money to pay out the contract of a coach (or two) in the coming years.i wish, there is 0% chance sheens is getting flicked or benji.
Strap in for a minimum 4 years, unless benji gets cold feet
RE Flanagan.He wouldn't have.
We'll fluke one somewhere and then the Sheens and Brooks cheerleaders will return to the forum to gloat.
he built a bloody good side at sharkies, drugs or not.good man manager to boot.Sheens will get the job done,it took the 05 team 2 years to defend, just a shame this team lacks attacking flair(blame Madge?)RE Flanagan.
So hard to tell.
You see he blitz it as a rookie coach of the Sharks. He clearly had a coaching brain, some of the moves the Sharks pulled in that final's game were brilliant.
Yet:
He followed Ricky Stuart. Ricky may have been loosing games, but he was getting the basics right. That's the difference between Madge last year and what Ricky was doing at the Sharks, he was building them.
In short, I don't know if Flanagan can build a team from scratch. Perhaps he is exactly the right person for the job, or perhaps he needs Stuart or similar to do the job.
Unfortunately not even the new unofficial 20+ rule helped. A mate of mine once said afl would be better w 2 footballs in play. Maybe that and tiges get to play 2 halfbacks at the same time. On second thoughts that could go either way.Tmrw I reckon
Are we all still on the mantra that a change of coach is going to make a difference. Seriously does anyone on here see what is real. We could have Bennett and Bellamy, I think they even would struggle. It's time to get rid of the REAL problem.
He (et al - good coaches) also does way better post match conferences 🙂 A whole preseason and still at square 1, still trying combos? But thank god he almost won the second half. So naieve and dissappointing.Des would get your defence sorted out.Des would get your defence sorted out.
It's terrible right now.
It's terrible right
He’s contracted to Storm until 2026. Just not as coach every year.Get Bellamy.., he is free next year right?
sure he would love the opportunity to come here
Would love that but why would he stain his legacy. Wests is where careers come to die.Get Bellamy.., he is free next year right?

I think every coach is thinking 'maybe I should sign up & take Tiger money...0-5 and he's still got a job!'.Thinking about Des. One thing he can do is train a halfback.
Manly had matt Orford, ok quality from Melbourne I think.
Des punted him for Trent Hodkinson, who did very well for 1-2 years.
Des Punted him for DCE, who became a superstar halfback under him.
IMHO Des > Sheens. I so wish we had 2-3 months notice of Des's firing so we could line him up here.... I guess so does Des. The question is How? I would ask Sheens if he would be willing to take his full paycheck now, no work nothing, just a quiet "I want to retire". Then have Benji stand in a few games but do a callout to Des.
We fire Sheens, every coach will be thinking "we cannot commit to a vision".
Would love that but why would he stain his legacy. Wests is where careers come to die.
Worth a try.RE Flanagan.

Is that John Laws in your avatar? Speaking of staining your legacy… I got up early one morning a few months back and flicked on the TV and saw a very young John Laws on an episode of Skippy playing a shonky Real Estate Salesman…
Not sure he would be proud of that one as he got older…
If we could get a full preseason into his legs.......Pearce is bad enough.
Dessie hasn't played half for years.
