Huddersfield Giants followed up on their derby success over Wakefield last weekend as they beat Harlequins 32-16 at the Stoop.

The Giants consolidated third place as Brett Hodgson led the way with two late tries, five conversions and a penalty, earning the northerners a third victory over Quins this season.

The hosts started well enough, holding their own in the opening stages before Luke Gale crossed the whitewash in the 14th minute following good work from Chad Randall, with Danny Orr adding the extras.

However, the Giants were back level seven minutes later, with Luke Robinson and Michael Lawrence combining for Leroy Cudjoe to touch down.

Quins again came back into it, but they were punished on the stroke of half-time as, despite two bites of the cherry, Chris Melling failed to deal with a Liam Fulton kick, allowing David Hodgson to score.

Stuttering
The Giants then appeared to be firmly in the ascendancy in the second half as their opponents stuttered, and Michael Lawrence added another four-pointer eight minutes after the break.

With 11 minutes to play, Brett Hodgson added two more to the Giants' tally with a penalty to make it 20-6 and the home side appeared to have no hope of a comeback.

Late drama
However, Melling made it a contest with tries in the 71st and 76th minutes to bring his side back to within four points.

Yet Hodgson put the result beyond doubt when he scored and coverted twice in the 79th and 80th minutes to give the Giants a deserved win.

Thanks for posting this Ink…....WoW, the scares on the Warrior's face is really standing out lately.

I am certain we would be coming 5th or better, if the 75kg SuperMan was still with us this season

"scored and converted twice in the 79th and 80th minutes" - ah, Hodgo, we miss you! What a legend!

Zai. He was playing a lot better before he got injured…...this last game shows he is getting back to his early season form.

The gaints are going excellent with 5 or 6 former tigers players and nathan brown as coach this year they quite surprised me.

After a good home win (28-10) against Warrington, Huddersford is travelling along very nicely in 3rd spot
