Goal kicker

Having strengthened the roster we will hopefully be in the position where we are competitive in most games and hopefully in the arm wrestle throughout the year. Therefore goal kicking becomes a priority. Getting pumped by 40 plus point per game as we have over the last few years has probably made the need for a reliable goal kicker seems obscure.
Our short term dilemma is the fact that Api is our lone recognised goal kicker until the Big Mac can join us after round 10. On a personal note I can't have Adam Douhie in our top 13. His defensive frailties can no longer be tolerated in a team that is striving to move forward. We need to draw a line in the sand here.
Unfortunately that means that we have to flog poor Api for the first 10 weeks of the year because we need to convert all possible points. In short we need to do everything possible to keep Api on the field for as long as we can due to the fact that we don't have another goal kicking option. Not ideal, but after round 10 we have Makasini which will mean we can spell Api with TDS. Jack Bird and Latu will offer more versatility giving us much more flexibility but it is imperative we are thereabouts at around round 10. My thoughts anyway, but it would seem almost criminal to lose games due purely to goal kicking because our one and only outlet has been burnt to the limit of his physical capabilities.

With Brett Hodgson back at the club team management should get as many "ordinary" or "wannabe" goal kickers and give them intensive goal & drop goal kicking training on top of the regular training sessions.

Lachy Galvin could make himself an even better player if he got some decent one on one kicking training with Hodgson, maybe they could even bring in Darryl Halligan every so often when he isn't commentating on NZ TV.
