Goals you've set yourself.

I'm hoping to have enough money by the end of next yr to put a deposit on a house.

I'll be going overseas for the first time ever just after xmas on a cruise with the lady friend, so that's a nice milestone.

Took wifey to England in 2010 to attend her favourite aunty's funeral. A quick, short trip.

Hoping to take wifey back there this year or next for a proper holiday this time. She has lots of rellies over there.

(Hoping to get up to Scotland for a dram or two)

Let's both hope the Aussie dollar picks up - 50pence right now! Ouch!

I'm hoping to have travelled to 100 countries by the age of 40\. I have 5 full years to go to make it and I am at 74 countries visited so far. I have a few new countries to do before the end of the year - Namibia, Poland, Ukraine, Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina - so I'll reach 80 by the end of the year.

I travel a lot for work and for pleasure (I usually do around 25-30 countries per year) but it's getting really hard to add new countries because I have been to so many already that most of it is duplication. The wife is also pregnant with our first child so we have had to scale back the places we travelled to this year. We had to cancel a gorilla trek in Rwanda which is one I've wanted to do for a while.

Thats impressive man.
I've lived in a dozen countries for periods longer than 6 months. I loved them all for differing reasons. Travel is the essence of life for me.

I lived in Oban for 2 years in the mid 90's - Absolutely loved it. I hope you achieve your goal. It's an incredible place and the whiskey….well, it's amazing to sit in a castle ruin and sink a dram or two.

I've always wanted to swim with the whale sharks at Exmouth which I'll be doing in around 6 weeks - Can't wait.

I've set a few, failed a couple, but really only have 1 main goal left, and 1 I'm considering.

Both my goals are upon retirement (5-10yrs) and they involve 2 great passions of mine. Food & Wine. The main goal is to relocate to either France or Spain, buy a farmhouse and grow Grapes for Wine or Olives for Oil.

The second is being retrained in Cookery (for free) by one of the icons of the cuisine. As a trained Chef through the Australian system and workplaces, it is clear we are well below the practices within Spanish or French Cuisine, plus having access to some of the great ingredients these regions can offer.

Sounds like a busy retirement, but as I've always told my people, Sleep is over Rated!

Finish renovating my house - both inside, outside and the garden.
Get married & finish my sleeve ( tattoo'd arm ).
Visit my relatives in Lebanon that I've never met, visit my grandmother's grave.
Get a promotion at work - challenge myself.

I actually use goals as a driver of my life.
Every monday morning I set my goals.
I have weekly, Monthly, Yearly, 3 yearly and 5 yearly goals.
They are personal and business, some are frivolous, some quite serious. Some are results based (hitting a target or something) others are more process based, one of my monthly goals is to make sure I get the driving range 6 times this month, and practice chipping and putting for an hour 6 times.
Obviously some of the short goals are stepping stones to bigger goals, not all of them are, some come from no where.

I usually reward myself when I achieve a goal (the less exciting ones) and have trained myself to accept that I wont achieve all goals.

Im about to achieve one of my long term business goals which is the acquisition of another client base which has been on my list for 5 years.

The most interesting goals for me are to get my Golf handicap to 18 this year and on similar lines play 20 of the top 100 golf course in Australia (from the list I printed at the time), Reach an certain income level for the business, Get bigger enough that I no longer am responsible for a number of parts of my job I dont like. Also have a number of travel destinations id like to tick off and write a book (which Ive started)

I have just retired ( or should I say Retrenched) after 41 years in the aviation game, anyway I am now setting my self new goals to carry me through till they turn out the lights. Like Goose my golf handicap is a goal, health is another goal, keeping financially independent from the government, travel and do some voluntary work are all on the list, but the most important for me is just keeping in touch with my family who are all spread far and wide over the world.

One last thing–stop getting down every time the tigers disappoint, thats the hardest

That's very interesting (having lived in so many countries). How did that come to happen? Where you living an expat life and working for a foreign company, in the military, or did you just find ways to move around and see the world?

You'll love the cruise mate, make every minute worth it, amazing tbh. Do you know which one you will be going on yet?

Had intended to work on a formula 1 race car team before I retire.
Now currently at the age of 50, I have not done this so I have a slight feeling of not achieving.
Although as a decent compromise, I was lucky enough to be on pit crew at Bathurst in 1985, & 1987.
Also was the auto electrician for Mitsubishi Ralliart, Australian Rally Team from 1990 until 2004.
Had a very enjoyable time.

Still have burning desire to help/work on a Formula 1 team.

You are never too old to fulfill your dream WestTAHger…

For my 60th I want to head back over to Europe and cycle some of 'giants' of the Alps/Dolomites such as the Stelvio (from both sides), the Gavia, Mortarolo, Alpe Duez and others.
Rode a few of them a couple of years ago and had an absolute ball.
Here's to good health!!

Sounds Awsome..
