This is my story of the game last night. I wanted to get to ANZ before 5:30 pm so I could go and see our Holden cup team play but I ended up getting to the game at around 7:10\. For starters I missed my train train from Canterbury to Lidcome because the ticket lady just kept blabbing on about something and finally when she stopped I asked her when the train was coming and she said your missing it now and I'm like ''Are you serious!''
So I run as fast as I can but theirs like a ramp to get to the platform not stairs so I couldn't run too fast or I would of gone tumbling down the ramp, So I missed the train and had to wait 20 mins to catch the next train going to Lidcome, Finally I hop on to the train and get off at Lidcome and As soon as I'm there I'm just lost.
I usually go via Redfern but I thought Lidcome might be quicker because It said it would be on the Trip Lite App thingy (God was I wrong!) so I go up the stairs and look for someone to tell me how to get to Olympic Park Stadium I finally find a hole bunch of City Rail workers and Police gathered around an elderly lady who I think had taken a pretty big fall (Bit of blood and she looked pretty out of it)
So I look around to see if there are any people with Tigers or Bunnies Jerseys on and I find a bunch of them going down the stairs down to the street and I see a MASSIVE line at a bus stop so I go up their to find 2 blokes in those orange vests and holding clip boards so I ask them what is happening and they tell me that something is wrong with the tracks so I will have to go by bus so I asked when do the buses come and he said every 30 min's so I'm freaking out.
Each bus carries about 30 people and there was like 400 people all standing along the street so their is no way I would get to the game in time if I went by bus, so I ask the bloke where the Taxi rank is and he points down the road so I walked down the road to the taxi rank.
My phone was going off the hook with my Dad,Mum,Grandma and Aunty calling me every 30 seconds seeing what was happening, I finally tell them I'm going by Taxi and they just tell me to go back home but I just tell them I'll be fine. I see a few people next to the the taxi rank (2 Next to the 1st rank and 20 next to the 2nd rank so I stand at the 1st rank and there's a fellow Tigers supporter there who was as clueless as I was because we both arn't used to going to Anz via Taxi.
Finally we must up the courage to talk to one another (Sometimes it's abit akward just walking up to some one and starting a convo.) We both chat abit and then decide to catch a taxi together and split the cost, we wait next to the taxi rank for about 20 mins and not one taxi comes so we call Premier taxi's and tell them to bring a few cabs over to Church street in Lidcome because there is like 20 people all waiting for cabs
So we reserve a cab under his name and we wait about another 20 mins, About 2 cabs have come in that time both un-reserved but they kept being taken by the 2nd rank so we walked down to the 2nd rank and in the space of about 30 seconds another 3 came down the road, two of them came all the way down only to where we were only to turn into the Catholic club opposite to us.
The other was reserved to some other guy so after another 10 mins of waiting we book ANOTHER taxi to go the catholic's club and we wait around there for about 2-3 mins and the bloke going with me needed to go the the toilet, he asked me to promise him not to go with out him but I never had it in my mind to go with out him because I'm just not that kind of person, So a taxi comes but it's again Un-reserved and there are another group wanting the same taxi.
Luckily He was Arabic so I spoke to him in Arabic and begged him to wait just 30 more seconds in that time I think I called him a ''Habib'' about 7 times, after about 20 seconds the taxi driver's patience began to wear thin and the other group were also begging him to take them, about 5 seconds later I see the bloke i'm going with walk out of the club and looking around for me so I shout out his name and wave my hand for him to come to me and he just sprints down to were me and the taxi are and we finally get a cab.
The taxi driver asked us why we didn't just walk there we told him we had no clue how to get there lol. It took us about 5 mins to get to Anz and we split the bill and walked to the stadium.
Finally we where at the Anz!
I went onto Twitter to see the Holden cup scores and we were leading by about 10 points with like a minute to go. we walked past one of the gates and the guy who went with me told me that that was he's gate we finally shook hands and part ways and wished each other a great night.
I go to one of the gates and go into my pockets to find my membership card but it wasn't there because I LEFT IT AT HOME! I quickly thought to myself ''Could this night get any worse'' (Surely enough it did and we got thrashed by 20) I told the people who scan the tickets that I left my membership card at home and ask what I should do…
They told me to go the ticket stand and that they would sort me out, so I went there and they told me to go to the Wests Tigers membership enquires stand which was right behind me but I didn't see it, I went there and told them that I left my card at home and asked what I could do to prove that I am actually a member.
they looked into their members list and search up my name and found it, and then asked me a couple of questions to show that I am the card holder I got all the questions correct so they gave me a ticket and showed me where to go.
So the morale of this story is never go to Anz via Lidcome and that Tigers Supporters are the only people that help you out lol. :sign: :supporter:
