Going to market for a controlling half...

I don't see the point bringing Pearce or Widdop across. What ever we do needs to be a long term solution, not a 2 - 3 year bandaid.

I'd prefer to build as well but we are desperate for another half. I'd love to see us go to market for a top junior.

This is from the NRL.com website. You have to click on teams to see them though.

Funnily enough we're leading in offloads and decoys (for the person who commented about the 200 passes).
It makes sense that we are leading the comp in decoys - our attacking plays are 95% decoys and nobody actually straightening the attack or taking responsibility.

Worried blokes like Api, Bateman and Papalii won’t hang around if something doesn’t change real soon. They are used to winning or at least competing.
Have to agree , fans can see we are struggling to finish offf , those guys are part of the go forward and will get sick and tired of doing the work to be let down buy our attack , We need a 7 ( Trindall ) he would be chomping at the bit to play first grade long term , Centre , go after the best Lower grade or stuck beh8nd first grader players and grab one , leave Staines at the back and promote James the big guy from lower grade he is going to be special

Zerotackle has the 10 realistic options the Tigers have to replace Brooks in 2024. Coming in at number:
10: Blake Taafe - South Sydney
09: Shaun Johnson - Warriors
08: Tuimoala Lolohea - Huddersfield Giants (is this a G up ..??)
07: Kyle Flanagan - Bulldogs
06: Arthur Mourgue - Catalans Dragons
05: Jack Cogger - Penrith
04: Oliver Lawry - WestsTigers SG Ball (over 6 feet tall exceptional ball skills)
03: Aidan Sezer - Leeds Rhinos
02: Daniel Atkinson - Cronulla
01: Daine Laurie - WestsTigers

No disrespect intended but we should go for 06: Arthur Mourgue - Catalans Dragons (whoever he is)
This place is like a morgue currently.

The man listed on there in Aiden Sezer was my pick before he went to super league . The way things are shaping up we will need 2 new halves. Sezer and young Taffe are my picks.
taafe is he a 7 or a fb, no thanks a utility
Hawkins would be the pick from souths
As for sezer he is only realistic chance from SL for 2024

We need to stop looking at old men. We need a spine we can build long term around. Bring the kid up from SG ball and develops him
The problem is our best junior halves are conti and large neither are old are enough to even play first grade and the club is worried if they sign a 20 year old it would block their path way, the club is desperate not to have another tedesco or papenhauyzen

I think the club should just bite the bullet considering alot could happen between now and when they'll be ready for first grade but that is the logic

They got guys like matamua, rui, bula ect who should all be getting game time. We lost pap teddy fox ect cause we chose to block or release. Chances are we will be 0-10 so hopefully sheens bleeds these boys or yes they will leave and we will see them kill it in other colours. Good enough is old enough

We've dodged a bullet with Williams re-signing at Warrington. He's not really a controlling halfback nor an organiser. Despite wearing the 7 he's basically a better version of Brooks, which still isn't what we really need.

A short-term solution like Pearce would still be good for us. We're making as many metres as any other team and our field position has been better than any other team's this year. Our biggest problem has been the halves. It's not inconceivable that with a good halves pairing we're in the top 8 this year on the table currently, if not pushing the top 4.

Also something that I've stressed before is that we are currently last on the ladder. We finished last in the previous season. A short-term solution that can get us to 10th is a positive because it shows improvement. I'd rather pay for a short-term solution that can definitely return us to respectability than overpay for a long-term solution that is a risk and may not fix anything. We can then develop an in-house succession plan ready to take over once Pearce / the short-term option moves on.

The other thought I've got is that although I've never watched Lewis Dodd before and can't really comment, if he's as good as they say, a huge 1 year deal with options for further years in our favour may be a goer. Make the money enough to entice him over even if it is only for 1 year, and use that as a way to trial him out at NRL level. If he delivers, exercise the option and if not, he can leave.

Agree wholeheartedly, there has been an aversion to giving young players a go the past few seasons.

if Manly beat us , it should become policy, keep changing the side in the problem areas until something works.

No personalities or favourites just keep going 'til it clicks.
