Going to market for a controlling half...

will be interesting to see what Sheens and co. plan to do with Doueihi now out for the remainder of the year.

in terms of in-house options, they are skim at best. Wakeham is a reserve grader whose fifth tackle options put us constantly under pressure. Daine was apparently out the door last week and has been poor since being demoted. Will Smith is on a part time contract and while he's played well in Cup, he is better suited to a 14 role in first grade. Camroux is nowhere near given he has played Flegg all year.

we have to go to market. in terms of being likely to be let go, Dean Hawkins, Joseph O'Neill, Brad Schneider and Toby Sexton are the most likely. if you want a loan deal, a kid like Jack Cole or Jonah Pezet may be let go on a temporary basis given the benefits of regular first grade for their development. as much as I would love Trindall, Williams, Jayden Sullivan or Lewis Dodd, all of them are pipe dreams for this year. next year is a different story.

the bye affords us the opportunity to identify and pursue a target. I just hope they don't come back empty handed. one more injury and we're literally promoting Will Smith to the top 30.

Yes I would be extremely surprised. Benji's 38, I just don't think he could cope physically. Even Paul Gallen and Lote Tuqiri were about 35-36 when they retired (same as Benji).
He doesn’t need to put his body on the line, just stand around and be the game controlling half that people have been screaming for.

If under pressure he can just kick on the first or pass over the sideline. Just like the good old days

You know I was surprised enough when Sheens pulled Skando and Ray Cashmere out of retirement, convinced Jason Moodie to delay his post-footy carpentry career and pulled Matt Utai out from park footy in Auburn; and even Sheens himself coming back a decade after he was sacked

BUT

my head would explode if Benji Marshall put a Tigers jersey on for the third session of his career.

Wasn’t Moodie killing time before he could become a firefighter?

Let’s not even speculate on a Benji comeback, it won’t be happening.
Let’s stick to rational, logical recruitment options, even if they are somewhat limited.

There’s 3-4 on that list that are getable , if offered a starting 1st grade spot and a upgrade on the small wage they would be on , but has anyone at are club picked the phone up to anyone , I know we don’t get any details , and they maybe doing it , but the dolphins just scored a 1/2 of the broncos as they lost another 1/2 so it can be down if u get of ur arse and try

If those are our options, we are in deep trouble. Expect 2 more spoons at least.

Pezet at storm and Luke Metcalf from the warriors are the smart play if they can be targeted. Both are from NSW and make more sense for our timeline. We will suck for years.
Good suggestion TYGA.
We could do a swap Noffa to Storm and Pezet in return.

in the article zero tackle said all to partner Adam Doueihi at 6....
poor old AD will struggle to get back on the field on 2024 let alone play 6
good solid research by zero tackle there...

Ill have some of what he's smoking

Zero tackle article with 10 playmaking options for Tigers
4 of which interest me
1. Taafe
2. Lolohea
3. Oliver Lawry ( wests tigers sg ball )
4 .Daine Laurie
Taafe impressed me in big finals games ,Lolohea a good show in world cup and been here before , Lawry already one of ours ,Daino is fast nippy and got skills

We are certainly getting into good field position to score. Whatever we are doing in that regard is working. The obvious gap is having a few guys who know what to do when we get into scoring positions.

It's clear to me - Moses won the Eels that game single handedly. They didn't outplay us in any facet of that game except their halfback knew how to ice their scoring opportunities.

We could view the 6 a little differently until a suitable option presents itself - simply someone who can take on the line and look for an offload to Staines and co. through the middle. Sure, they need to be able to pass, but ultimately, they need to be a threat at the line. I'm going to get mixed opinion on this I know, but I think Tommy Talau could do that job.

I just can't see Laurie or Wakeham offering anything to compliment Brooks who is already struggling. I doubt we find a decent signing between now and our next game.
