I've just had a few recent scans of Bonstonkers vids….Benji Marshall was one hell of a footballer. Unfortunately for a bloke who came back from umpteen shoulder and knee reconstructions..it's only those things are now catching up with him but holy shit what a player he was. In those early days we had nothing without him, I think we need to give a little more respect to this bloke.
In saying that, my other Bonstonker favourites are Chris Lawrence and Taniela Tuiaki. Both legends of the club and both crueled by injury. What are your favourites?

Teniela still makes me sad. Bloody Tim Sheens telling our fullback to pass the ball to him every kick return. At the time of his injury he and Brett Morris were not only lenghths ahead in the comp with tries, but the 2 were competing hard fkr best winger in the world. He was at his absolute peak.

On a side note, and without meaning to be negative, but has anyone ever done a Benji lowlight reel? That would be just as entertaining as his highlight reel

In regards to sheer ability, Marshall is the best player to ever lace a WT's boot, but he didn't have the consistency which is why I'd still give the nod to Farah. But if Marshall could have sustained that, he'd have been up there today with Thurston, he was that good.

If watching his videos tells you anything, it should be to appreciate Tedesco. Because dare I say in 10 yrs similar threads will be started about this guy with people remembering him in awe. It's hard to do that in the present, a bit of only realising what you had when their gone, but what we have with him really needs to appreciated.

Hodgson was the rock when we won the comp. Consistently great play.

Benji was my favourite. He would put some clangers in but he was unstoppable as well.

If Teddy keeps going the way he is he will surpass both Benji and Robbie.

My favourite Benji moment was the try against the sharks when he kept stepping outside past a thousand defenders before the no look pass to tie wingman. Phew! Marshall magic.

51 metre field goal against the titans In the Marshall clip still gives me goosebumps

It had so much hang time, Andrew Voss was able to get in about three sentences before we got the dreaded WOW! from Gould.

Simona's 20 metre restart tap and try against the Panthers - fends off Luke Walsh and someone else twice before burning around the outside, and then turning Naiqama inside out TWICE before diving over under the sticks.

And who can ever forget the Chris Lawrence clip - where Lawrence burns Slater around the outside to win the game for the Tigers against the storm.

Three of my favourite Bonstonkers Highlights.

Sheensy hasn't been blamed for anything for awhile now that JT is the new whipping boy….may as well blame him for the injury to Taniela I guess!
Benji's magic in the GF and his round-the-back pass for the Mitch Brown try vs Parra in '09 are 2 of the most breathtaking things I have ever seen on a footy field.
Dwyer smashing JWH in the semi in '10 was sensational as well. The next few minutes after that was heartbreaking stuff though.

You can never forget people like Marshall, Farah, Hodgson, Gibbs - boys from the 2005 era kind of.

We all knew how unpredictable and unstructured Benji was, he always needs someone on the straight and narrow to be his partner and unfortunately it all fell apart after Prince left.

The band aid halves that came could never give Benji the same support or freedom to do his own thing and most times he over played his hand and made unnecessary errors

It's easy in hindsight, but it could have been a different world if we'd signed Soward (or any other organising half that wouldn't be pushed around) in 07.

Took more than your breath away - Browny didn't play for us until 2010…
Think you'll find it was Aysh.
