Listening to triple m on Saturday one caller had a good idea. No penalty goals during golden point. Either has to be won by a field goal or a try. It then brings the pressure off the referees and also awards the winning team. Or just make it a draw like football

1 point after 80 mins to each side and an extra point to golden try, it makes sense.

We would have made the finals an extra 2-3 times over the years if we got points for losing in golden point. the NHL has used this for ages. Provides a far more accurate description of the ladder. Why shouldn't you get a point for being equal after 80 mins? Mind blowing that you get scored the same as whether you get beat by 50 or scores are tied.

Or scrap golden point and stick to the draw. We're not a knock out comp, not every game needs a winner….

I think the point for the draw, and then an extra point for the win in golden point is an excellent system the NRL needs to implement. Like Tarl said, we got the same amount of competition points last night as Parra did after losing by 54 and not scoring last week.

This is what they do in US with the NHL Hockey. Great idea i say.

I have always been against it personally. A draw match happens in so many other sports and thats not an issue. I also believe every team should only play once as well and the extra time turned over to rep matches
