Good enough for a serious team

So apparently getting rid of our greatest ever player was supposed to usher in an era of dominance, well so said the illustrious brains of this forum.

Yet here we are.
And there he is.

Bring him back

It didn't work with him.

Three years, and it delivered nothing. What does bringing him back for a third time do, other than make 50,000 Facebook casual fans happy?

If Benji had played on Sunday the score would have hit 50 before HT and instead of being booed off the field there would have been public executions.

I think we have made alot of mistakes in relation to how we have parted ways with players- it seems to get talked about alot so you can't ignore it. Why it continues to be an issue is because we have never really recovered as a club with any level of success since we started the process back with Sheens.
We turned our back on what we did well and that was retain players that came up through our juniors who wanted to be at the club and play together.
That was largely our identity and someone in their wisdom decided to dismantle it - hence breaking up the boys club. Could never understand it - isn't that what all clubs would want. It's pretty much the model South's/Penrith have in place now
I always thought that once we had a good financial position we would steady the ship and we would attract players but no that has not happened - we only seem to get players that are surplus to requirements at other clubs or those past their best.
Brooks is the last of any noterity from that system as I see it now and he is the target of most of the blame. Not sure how much more he can handle playing for us but if he goes and he succeeds elsewhere which I expect he will you can sort of understand why our recruitment struggles continue.

Souths seems to think he’s worth it.
They even want to get rid of Reynolds for him.

Something doesn’t add up

My thoughts are that Benji is gone and let's leave it that way. We need to ride this 💩 storm out and pray to God Madge creates a miracle with what we have. I'm hoping last weekend was our rock bottom and that we start to turn this season around.

Benji sure as hell wouldn't have helped our poor defensive effort.

Defence is our biggest issue I reckon which stems from attitude mainly. Conceding over 30 points a game on AVG for our last 15 games is atrocious and not something Benji would help with his arm grabs. He doesn’t have an Arrow or Murray to cover his misses.

I reckon our attack is okay without being spectacular, so in my opinion that’s why he’s not a great fit. Additionally at South’s he has a point to prove in a sense, if he had stayed here he has nothing to prove and that can lead to complacency

Out of those last 15 games, Benji was present for the last 10 of last season, 2 of which we won.

No point in being able to score 24 points if the opposition scores 26.

He knows he has to tow the line at south’s because he’s in a new system and there are better players than himself ..so he looks good .
With us it’s the polar opposite.
My 2 cents

My God this gotta be a gee up yeh 😜
Put any of our blokes in south's penrith etc systems & they'll go up several rungs

EVen Momo!

God! .... are we back on this .... again.
Let it go mate and start looking to the future.
We don’t need any short term solutions.
Young guns with skill and good attitude and hopefully few will emerge with what we need.
Apart from that we have enough dough in the bank to recruit for next year .... couple of marquee guns for hire.
No more over 30s with injury problems for me thanks.

And this is what irks me about the Madge has got to go theory....
He has rekindled the junior pathways and system we had a long time ago....this will be a great source in the future....
the team he has will still take a while to mould but apparently he has to go....
