Grand Final 2005 Flashbacks

Okay I'm trying to change the subject and stay positive here. With all the doom and gloom regarding our coach, JAC leaving and our ladder position, I thought I'd send a shout out asking where everyone was when we won the 05 Grand Final….
I watched the game in a packed Aussie pub in London called the 'Slug and Lettuce'. Warm beer, dodgy pies, crap weather. Good times.

Behind the in-goal to the left of the posts, where I had a beautiful view of Benji retrieving the kick that sent Patty away down that side. I was also in good position to see our final try. What a night!

My 9 yo son is wondering when he'll get to see something like that…

Nice. I was near the try line close to where Bowman threw that shocker for the Gibbs try.

At a mates place with was a hardcore Cowboys Supporter.

He literally started crying when Josh Hannay missed the conversion at 24-16 with 6 minutes to go.

I also remember getting up extra early to queue up to buy tickets on the Monday after we beat the Dragons. I was going to go to the Ticketek near Wynyard before heading to work. Got halfway into the city only to realise I had left my wallet at home. Turned around, went and got it, then back into town. I think I got there about 7:30, was about a dozen people from the front of the queue, then waited nervously for my turn. Was very relieved there were still seats available by the time I got to the front.

Very front row of the WT supporters section. Behind the dead ball line exactly where Patty scored "that try". Actually quite sure he looked straight at me when he got up and pointed to the sky. Can still spot myself on numerous occasions watching the DVD. Although you wouldn't know it was me unless I told you, with my face painted etc.

Bought my tickets down here in Melbourne. Walked into the outlet about 10 minutes before the sale started and it was empty. They put all my details in before the sale started and then just hit go once it started. Got 4 tickets at the fence, and another 4 about 2 rows back.

I was at the game, had great seats. Remember the Night at Balmain Leagues forever.

Looking at the team then, I thought we will be back here again soon, celebrating.

11 years on, and your just happy they won on the day.

You appreciate it more now really.

At the game sitting in the Cows section. My brother was living in Qld on the Gold Coast so was able to walk up to Ticketek and buy our tickets while we struggled on the phone. The trade off was sitting with NQ fans. Then post game inside Balmain Leagues waiting for the team. Luckily I was a member so managed to get in. Think I got home around 4am. Next day at LO.

I was about 15 at the time and watched it on tv. All the boys from my footy team were there and a bunch of girls. Ended up having a snog with one of the hotties from 2 grades above me at school. Thought I could conquer the world that night haha.

That night was my 30th and I can't remember much from about 10 pm that night till Tuesday lol…

Left hand side of the posts,try line. Right in line with where Fitzhenry scored. I remember after the game thinking to myself,when someone asks me "who do you support?" That I was able to tell them I support the Premiers.
Will,we ever get there again?
