After a less than excited lead up to the GF during the week, was keen to get there yesterday to see how the lack of interest might translate on the day. I thought it an uninspiring game to be honest, not helped by a very low key atmosphere. The combination of a much disliked team with a low supporter base against an out of town group was always going to be tough assignment for the marketing types, but I thought it might just rank as the worst GF I've attended.
There were some good moments during the day however, with the NYC being an absolute cracker and one Benji Marshall doing a Q & A session during lunch. Felt a little sorry for Benj, it's always a hard ask trying to do your best when 75% of the room are tanked and more interested in the sound of their own voices. Interestingly, Benj didn't stay for the game, he headed straight home ! Can't help thinking that he may have still been hurting a little from the Warriors semi. He was probably hurting a whole lot more after that game, which by general consensus was a dud. You wonder what might have been?
