Playing Taylor this week is a priority this is a big game for the team .. Win this one then Newcastle at Cambo ,roll into the Origin period and things could be very different within the month .Bums on seats alone on Sunday with a positive addition to the team is a positive as well, interesting to see how JT approaches this.

I agree this is a chance for JT to show he has some smarts about him when it comes to team selection. What he does with Elijah and how he fills in the fullback position are 2 things I'm waiting to see come 5pm today.

Yep like above posters are saying you don't play 100 first grade games and 10 tests by being a chump. Hope to see him in the team.

Dene Halatau has played over 230 NRL games and 15 Tests and he isn't far from being chump material

Lets hope he is a massive upgrade on Dene 😛ray:

Well FTWIT, I agree Happy. I would straight out swap Taylor for Dene. I doubt that will happen, but ignoring the age/energy difference they are similar size and playing style by the looks?

Dropping Dene out of the team would allow us to put a bigger player on the bench.

I have high expectations for this guy. I'm hopeful he can be defensively really strong and minimise our mid game slumps.

GNR - I can't see him making the starting side but I'd play him at 13\. It's not a big deal though. Let him prove himself off the bench.

Pointless to play him off the bench IMO. He's not an impact player, certainly not post-injuries. But he can play 80 and get through a lot of defensive work, letting other forwards run shorter spells.

Rankin will be named at fullback. Put a monkey on it.

The signing of Grant and ET is the sort of recruitment this club should have been doing for years instead of trying to find a diamond in the garbage bin policy we have had for years. This team is one class centre and maybe a winger away from a very good roster

Nah Taylor is 10+kg heavier and 4-5 inches taller than Dene, they're very different physically and so have very different games. Dene is a tough little nugget whereas Taylor is more in the athletic mould.

Wooh wooh i think everyone is getting a little too carried away here, he hasn't even laced a boot yet and he's being hailed as our saviour and our best signing ever. Not saying it's a bad signing but relax, let's see how he goes before we start making ridiculous claims. It's gonna take more than one decent backrower to get us anywhere near being a condender.

Ah - well good! I like the sound of that, instant improvement to age, energy and size!

One of the best signings we've had for a long time. Great defender and plenty of class. So glad we were patient and didn't blow our money in desperation months ago.

x 2\. Can't wait to see him in action.

Taylor must have heavy bones because he just does not look the 100+ kg it states in his profile. He only looks slightly bigger than Dene. Very impressed with his ball skills on the weekend though. Looked classy.

I still think we need one of those enforcers or mad men that you dont want to run at or have run at you.I know they don't grow off trees but like a Havgraves, James Graham, Beau Scott, Greg Bird. We still lack any mongrel, opposition don't fear us at all.

But your right coach, quietly we have picked up a couple of real handy players. Slowly things are coming together but were still at least 2-3 rally good players off being a big dog.

I don't doubt his profile weight. He's tall and has broad shoulders, that sort of frame can hold plenty of muscle mass without looking bulky.

I must be getting old cos he looks short to me rather than tall.

Ive been thinking the same thing.

Im usually a good judge.

He def doesnt look 190cm….i would have thought about 183 ish and late 90's kgs which is a huge difference in both height and weight he is listed as.

Her is a photo of ET next to Whare who is 185cm.

Wouldnt surprise me if next year Elijah starts games at hooker and then switches to lock after 20 minutes for the remainder of the game allowing a fresh 9 to come on and play the remaining 60 minutes. That allows us to start a bigger body at 13 and provide some fresh zip at dummy half after 20 minutes.
