I'm just thankful this forum doesn't run the club.
Otherwise we would have already sacked the coach, the captain, the CEO, all the medical staff, head of recruitment, and most of the playing squad a few times over.
For all of Mayer's failings, he has also made a lot of good decisions for this club in what must be very difficult circumstances to operate under. Unless a better candidate puts their hand up, I am more than happy for Grant to stay on board as CEO.
He has been successful at all of his previous appointments, and given the proper support, I am sure he can do the same at our club.
Otherwise we would have already sacked the coach, the captain, the CEO, all the medical staff, head of recruitment, and most of the playing squad a few times over.

He was CEO at Manly (supporters signed a petition to keep him once he announced he was resigning, so they obviously thought highly of him).
He was also the inagaural Catalans Dragons CEO in the Super League, I believe.
At GWS he was General Manager, a slightly different position.
I know people who dealt with him commercially during this role at GWS, and they all say he is a shrewd and intelligent operator. Obviously a majority of the WT Forum know better however, from reading articles in the Tele and not liking his body language while sitting next to Mick Potter in the box during the dogs game.

What has he done that's so bad?
Since he "inherited" this rabble
- He's increased sponsorship
- Got rid (Of some) of the deadwood - Believe he is looking to move on the rest.
- Re-Signed most of our up and coming junior talent
- Operated the club somewhat successfully within an extremely restricted budget
- Over seen the transition of the Wests Juniors back under the wing of the Wests Seniors
I very much doubt any of these things amount to ruining the Football Club!!

If you are saying BB that he isn't answerable to anyone , well that's crap
Because at the moment , who is he answerable to ?? If we use your example you've changed him from an NRL CEO to some God like figure
Next point , the sponsors we were signing I think were more based on the favourable result the players were achieving on field after being 5 from 7
Player retention , ok he retained some players , some we retained despite his help At this stage we haven't signed a recognized NRL player when we can all see we need some asap in certain positions
The jury is still out on Mayer at this stage , we still will be training with sub standard equipment next year (unless we have alternative plans) , the same S & C team and we don't have any coaches set in stone in any grade as far as I know
Love to see our P&L and GL for the 2014 season , bet we haven't gone within cooee of breaking even
From the outside I don't see any visible changes bar hearing we lost some staff , lets hope the staff we lost were the weak links , not the strong links that were holding the place together that were sick of the weak links and bad management

**He is answerable to the Owners, The Board… Pretty sure I mentioned that. The companies that own this club have employed him to run this club**

**Think what you like, Results aside, Someone has to sell it to them and get them to believe in what we are doing. Players winning a game here and there does not do this.**

**-Our Facilities have been around for 10+ years, With little to no money invested in them... That money and effort required for a complete overhaul isn't going to appear overnight. There has been more than one article written where Mayer has quoted that he needs better facilities to get better players. There is also more than one article about the meetings he has had to rectify the situation. I might add, That nobody thought this was a problem under the Sheens / Humphries era.... They seemed to think sub-standard was fine!!**

And the board he was answerable to in 2014 was non existent ,the Clayton's board ,the board you have when you don't have a board

I noticed you didn't touch the P&L and the GL side of things , the most important thing side of interest to a business

Just pressed submit before I read it, Didn't think it was relevant….
I believe we are firmly in a better position financially than last year...
The board he had in 2014, Was the board selected by the owners of this club, The fact they are inept is not his fault!!
- Memberships are a similar number, A bit lower... But as a top tier member, I can tell you that the number of top tier members is at least 3 times over what they were last year. - So that's a good thing!!
- Benji is gone, So we'd have to be a Mil better off than last year!! Also, we performed better without him!!

He's trying to get some money behind us buy cutting back on big buying - He's made that very clear... And for all you or anyone else on this forum knows - He could sign Cooper Cronk next week... As for the coach, I have never seen such support behind a guy that has no actual evidence that he is more than a great guy, and can actually coach!! Hasn't done it here, Hasn't done it in the UK... The fact he has handled himself amazingly is totally irrelevant!!

Until he has his own assistants , his own playing roster and the full support of the board we can't fully judge his coaching ability
It is alright for Mayer to say we aren't spending big bucks on recruiting , well in that case show us how to spend your money wisely in the players market like other clubs can

Lol. Take a chill pill everyone. I am not fussed either way about Meyer. If he stays or not. If he stays, i think he will do whatever it takes to make the Wests tigers a competitive and successful club. The newly formed board would demand this of him. People on here are saying he is anti-Potter. Where is the proof ? He has always stated ( if he's to be trusted) that Potters job is safe and he wanted him resigned. Changes are coming and as for me i don't really care what they are, as long as they make our club and team successful on and off the field.
@ Batboy,I can understand your passion about Mayer you obviously have a high opinion of him some of us dont,same as you dont favour Potter as you do Mayer some of us do.That is why we have a forum,however on Potters coaching ability,the good Lord wouldnt have done any better than Potter did this year as it wasnt a level playing field

How do you know Siro and Blair have done this batboy? It wouldn't surprise me though as lack of discipline is part of this teams problems.
