Grant Mayer Take a Bow

Saying he is working hard but actually doing nothing but twittering away.

Insulting Tedesco and making him look elsewhere by Initially offering Tedesco just above minimum contract and substantially less than what he is currently on.

The sooner this guy is out of the place the better.

Another sponsor added over the last week….
BOOM!!

Keep it up chief....

This is his job and what he should be doing.

And its exactly what he does. Some people hold so much hate to a guy who has orchestrated a lot of positive changes to the JV.When he took this club over it was like a street kid(tigers) who had been the victim of poor parenting(Stephen Humphreys) now a good wise parent has moved in and made changes to the street kids life with a new structure. The structure is only new so we wont see changes now but next year you will see a former street kid(Wests Tigers) setting the world alight.

It should be exactly what he does.

*But then we find that players are getting signed despite there being no coach
*Coaches being interviewed AFTER it was announced that the Football Manager would be hired first, to assist in the hiring of a coach
*Failure to stop leaks from the boardroom to the media (unless they come from him)
*His debacle over Potter's contract before the Dragons game
*His debacle with the farah video on the Tigers website
*His inability to pull Farah into line
*His restrictions on Potter, essentially preventing him from having any success

Mayer started off strong, but this year he has become excessively reactive, slow to react, shown no leadership when players/board members have behaved in a way that has brought bad publicity to the club.

You cannot overlook so much ineptitude by a bloke in the last few short months.

I acknowledge he did good work when he started here and I was a fan of his.

But that's a long time ago now.

With any luck he might be able to get us a major sponsor instead of living in the hope that Harry will just keep doing it for the love of the club.

Ok you mention 5 failures. They are 5 failures of the club not him.Failure 1 re boardroom.Well enter a completely new boardroom.Failures 2,3 and 4 was all about Robbie Farah not Grant Mayer. He has now fixed these all the same and failure 5 has now been fixed As the new coach will have extra powers.I would call these 5 failures of Wests Tigers but 5 successes of Grant MAYER as they have all been fixed on his watch.Have faith guys structural change doesnt see success overnight in days but in months and years we will all be much happy.Believe me.

I have to say that the recruitment and retention over the past year has been pretty good with Takarangi and Naiqama coming to strengthen the backs.

Although Mayer is disliked on this forum he deserves credit for the recruitment and retention of players so far !

He,s certainly gone to the top shelf there hasn't he .?

Wonder if the new coach wants them???

Aah Gold Coast Welcome back to a (positive)Mayer thread and bashing him.We dont have the money to buy top shelf so with the money invested Takairangi and Naiqama will prove two very shrewd buys. Why do we have a new coach again?

Good to see Mayer's attack dog is back on guard,
I haven't bashed anyone , just asked a question( you don't like them)
Btw how is that Smith report going , finished reading it yet?? We are all waiting for a copy .

You forever go on about this smith report that I have in my possession?Ive nver once said Ive read it or have possession of it.There is no doubt when Mayer took over this club was in need of a drastic overhaul as this club was "flea ridden".You call me a dog.Very interesting.Who has the most to lose from a healthy dog?Its the fleas that try to latch onto his balls but get "eradicated" when healthy change is made.So yes me the dog you the :wtf :wtf .Im a firm believer when a cancer lies within you must eradicate it.P.S I hope Robbie Farah is much happier this year as the club will be better run. After all its the Wests Tigers he holds dearest to his heart and not to be the most powerful man in the club.True.Cause the passion Robbie shows on the field is something a lot of others could learn from just as he could learn from others about off the field stuff.

lol, that post shows just how deluded and ignorant you have to be to be able to publicly state that Mayer has been doing a great job this whole time.

'nuff said

Any failures by the club are failures of the CEO.

Coaches being hired after the Football Manager is an operation failure and has absolutely nothing to do with Farah.

Farah, last I heard, was also not a board member, so he is completely innocent regarding board room leaks.

The board (which includes the CEO) could have come out prior to the Dragons game and decided to keep Potter on board til the end of the season and announce that prior to the game.

They waited until afterwards.

Again, that was not Farah's doing,

I get that you want to hate Farah. But blaming him for shit he had no involvement in is just pathetic.

The media now running reports that Taylor has been selected to be our new head coach.

How dare Farah reveal what decisions have been made at meetings he has never attended.

So much for your dopey theory that Mayer has fixed the issue of leaks from the boardroom.

They are still happening.

You tell me you cant see the difference in "leaking" positive news like this that can net the club sponsors as opposed to a club captain telling someone outside the club the coach cant coach(despite him seemingly doing a good job up until the saints game).

"Mayer's answer to a leaking board was to remove the board"

Where do you get this stuff from???? It's why your credibility is at Zero level.
The Board restructure was the stipulation of the NRL before putting any money in.
As well as that, the NRL selected the people who THEY wanted on the Board .
Mayer didn't have any part in it ( thankfully). Why do you throw these stupid , false statements around in most of your posts.
Whenever Mayers, name is mentioned you say anything that comes into your head at the time. You forget that a lot of us were also here at the time all this unfolded. And have memory's too.
It's also the reason that I asked you about the Smith report as you stated in a previous post that you "loved "the Report. I couldn't work how you could "love " something that no one had seen and weren't likely to .
Today you admitted that you haven't read it. Well why try to make people think that you had.
Your so keen to throw around little slogans , that you forget to stick to the truth when it interferes with your praise of Mayer.
One last thing . Boardroom leaks are , by definition ,exactly that. And at the moment can only come from the Board or the CEO

IIRC the club went to the NRL and asked them to help with a restructure. At least thats how it was reported in the media.

It appears on the surface that things are getting better.

Players retained, sponsors signing on, new board and coach.

But if you don't mind, I'll pass judgment in 12 months. Do we have heavily back ended contracts? Is the board up to it? Is the new coach up to it? All these facets are heavily influenced by CEO Mayer.

Only a fool gives final scores before the end of the test. If in 12 months the decisions bear fruit, I'll be the first to jump on here and sing his praises….....

You sound very hurt with all the great news coming out of the Wests Tigers today.Gotta love the great news coming out of the Wests Tigers today.Right.The smith report allegedly suggested new GM was needed and Ian Moss former Panther is the man gotta love that right. Also a coach who wont take crap from whinging players who now has the tools in place to adequately punish leakers etc.Great day for Wests tigers. My sincere condolences Gold Coast Tiger. :sign: :sign: :sign: :sign: :sign: :sign😀ont understand why on a day that is the most positive day on this forum since we smashed the dogs(the week before the saints game)and 99% of posters all loving it you want to come on here and "hijack" threads and turn positives into dirt.MMMMMM.I for one am glad that this Wests tiger is free from fleas.

I've changed my opinion of Mayer. While still not keen on his weird use of twitter to announce things and going MIA when Farah and Potter were taking all the heat about the club's internal problems, I believe he is purposefully taking steps to steer this club into a forward direction. They may not always be popular steps, but they are necessary, imo. It's often hard to see anything positive when you're wading through the crap, but good things can be found waiting on the other side once you get through it.

Where does it say , I'm unhappy about anything in my post , I'm just glad that you have admitted not reading the report . Not sure how you can love it when you don't know what was in it , but it's one lie that's been cleaned up ….allegedly .
It would help your credibility in the future if you don't make comments that are intended to make it seem that you have information that you don't.
Which is most of the time.

Mayers performance was appalling and bordering on embarrassing at times last season. Let's see how he goes under a new and more professional board. I'm sure they won't tolerate ineptitude for very long. He is lucky he still has another 18 months to run on his contract. But … It's enough time to justify his status in the club. Here's hoping for better.

With the Phil Moss appointment Mayer is effectively already out of the place…he has no say in the Football side of the business now..This is Moss and Taylors domain now!...Mayer's focus will be the business side....for which he is pretty good at!.

you clearly attributed, in your response to 5 things I believe are inadequacies with Mayer from the past few months, that are operational matters, to being due to Robbie Farah.

That is what's absurd.

Don't try and tell me how much you love Farah while at the same time, openly stating that it's entirely because of Farah that the board chose to meet after the Dragons game to resolve speculation over Potter's future.

Speculation that began after a boardroom leak.

I'm not saying Farah is completely innocent of any wrong doing. Your simple mind has made that conclusion.

My opinions are based upon facts, not the crap you read in the DT by rumour-mongers and morons with agendas, all of whom have no journalistic integrity, professionalism or genuinely decent qualities.

So feel free to go on your "Robbie is running the club" or "Robbie is killing the club" or "It's all Robbie's fault campaign" which the DT flood the media with in the hope that braindead simpletons like yourself believe it and run with it.

But don't get all sooky at me for simply forming an opinion based on what is known and using logic to form my realistic opinions
