Great Effort tonight

i didn't think we were beaten for speed in the backs….i thought our lateral movement in the forwards was shown up a bit when they shifted wide and turned it back in.

Refs did not police Warriors working the ruck. We got pinged for 10m a bunch of times, but Warriors had constant hands on ball in ruck, never called, or working over the runner. Woods for example continuously trying to get fast PTB but being worked over at ruck.

Many opposition coaches would of learnt a lot about how to beat the WTs tonight

Blame the refs all you like , they weren't great but some glaring deficiencies became clear tonight

JT now needs to try and counteract them

Apart from creating broken play from offloads and capitalising on it, what deficiencies would you say became clear?

LAST PLAY options after the forwards done the hard yards….no result and no confident ball playing....just my opinion guys...this could be one answer..

too indisciplined in broken play, like people have said. a shift out then back in left us clutching at air as did a simple offload.

need to play structured in the face of unstructured/flashy football. a line will stop anything if we make the tackles (not too hard to do when its not 1 on 1).

perhaps we're too committed to the shift wide, players in the centre shouldnt just stand and watch the ball they need to reform that defensive line during that shift out rather than leaving half gaps occasionaly.

yeah good effort, stuff to work on but improving every week i think.

only difference is who we play, first two weeks crappy teams then dogs and souths, last week the eels who were very off and tonight the warriors who played perhaps their best game this year (although thats not really saying much) and at home

attack is getting better. defence was a bit off tonight, but understandable given the unstructured attack of the warriors and the mountain of field position.

Good points.
The other thing about who we play is where we've played them. Only 2 home games in first six rounds and one was bulldogs at anz so not much of a home ground there. I think a 3 from 6 start with 4 away games against decent opposition is a great effort.

yeah true, i made a thread about our lack of home games to start the season. **4 home games in the first 12 rounds** and theres a bye in there too

if we can finish on around 50% by the start to middle of origin we should be easily able to come home strong if our team is somewhat intact and end up around 6-7th.

we get 6 home games and a bye between round 13 and round 21 inclusive. thats where we need to make a real charge. keep in the fight ladderwise, keep our team intact and we can easily win 5 or 6 of the 8 games in that period.

Great effort, hard to be critical when the Warriors had 60% of ball and all the favourable decisions go their way,yet they could still only manage to close the game out in the final minutes.

Attitude is very very good. You can see that in the defense which is the vital aspect when you have a younger squad and especially when you have two young halves defending in the frontline.
At this rate, I'm confident we can make the 8\. We'll at least be thereabouts in the final rounds. We've won the matches we should have this year and posed very good questions in the matches we didn't. That's exactly what you want from a developing team.
The halves are defending much better this season which is just as much individual as it is defensive patterns. Their attacking games will come on the back of that.
We're developing some strike on the edges with Lovett & Sironen. Simona looks classy when he gets early ball.
We're playing attacking percentage football. Working hard in defense, supporting ball runners and looking to attack the edges after making space in the middle.
I'm just happy with the way we're going. Patience, hard work & trust in the plan and good days are ahead.
