Halatau starting hooker?

Really does look like Halatau is going to start, with Farah on the bench.
Remarkable stuff, it really is.

It is remarkable that Halatau is actually in the 17.

I suggest GNR and 851 both chill out, or you can both go on mod preview if this crap continues.

Just flicked over to fox and Vossy on the sideline uttered those words…....2009 was a lifetime ago now. Tonight may be a different story me think.

If Farah is benched the Tigers will win. Souths on a short turnaround flying back from Perth. His style doesn't suit, tries to be too dominant and is disruptive. Hopefully Taylor can survive long enough to force him out.

This has been ignored all week having to come from Perth after a deflating golden point loss. The odds are good that they'll be flat.

Having read the SMH story on Farah being benched and Halatau starting, also watching the interview with JT trying to justify his decisions - mate… I don't know, I just don't get it. I am absolutely befuddled, completely flummoxed!!
Really, what is going on at this club? Is this supposed to be the pinnacle of professional sport in Australia? This whole saga is just appalling, the Tigers have become a joke and I couldn't imagine any half decent player, Coach or official ever wanting to come near the place. Furthermore, any decent young players we do have will be jumping ship at the first opportunity.

Not a fan of Halatau at all - Average player, drops the ball too often and givevs away dumb penalties (last weekend being one of the worst). We have so many options I don't know why they keep going with him there. I don't think his experience outweighs any of his negatives..

100% agree. Cherrington is ten times better than Halatau, I cannot fathom why we don't play him instead. Cherrington should have been our starting hooker this year whenever Farah is injured or on SOO duty. Cherrington should also be our future hooker. It baffles me, just like letting JAC go to Melbourne baffles me. I also have no bloody idea why we bought Ballin when we had Farah, Cherrington, Halatau and Liddle.

There are some very strange and very STUPID decisions being made in our club

Yeah baffles me too.. We have (had - Ballin) no.9's coming out of our ears and yet Halatau still gets a shot every week. Even with Ballin out, Cherry is more deserving of a spot than Halatau. Must be something going on there.. Looking forward to Liddle progressing to FG. For a position we easily had covered, it's become the biggest saga of the year.. Unnecessary.

Maybe if Ballin was fit and firing you might entertain the thought of starting Farah from the bench, god knows why!! but you might think it would work, but Deano, as nice a bloke and club man he is, one thing he is not is starting no9 and in my book he is hardly a back up no9\. I have no idea what the coach thinks he may gain from this call and you would think with his job well and truely on the line he would be picking the best players in their best positions

Short turn around will help us, and we always have a real crack at it after each of our lack lustre performances like last week, whether that is enough I don't know, can only hope so.

A couple of things here:-

1\. Is JT capable of making the right decision for the team ?
2\. Is this all just a media beat-up ?

I honestly don't know. I just watched Brooks and Moses being interviewed and the same stuff just keeps coming up. It's constant on this forum as well.

My opinion is that there is no big drama between Robbie and JT but at the same time I think last year that JT dug a massive hole for himself by trying to sideline Robbie when he should have been trying to win games which means getting the most out of the players that he had including Robbie. That decision has really screwed him and the team over because whenever a decision is now made such as not playing Robbie after origin the media are onto it hard.

If we were winning games this wouldn't be a massive issue but we are underperforming. I think the best thing that could happen for the team and JT is for our halves to start being consistent NRL performers. If that happens we will win more games and all this drama will go away.

Farah to have a big game tonight. Will have a point to prove. Really doesn't matter if he starts from bench or has a spell just before half time same diff. He will play 60+ mins most hookers are getting bench time now in the nrl. I think its smart hes not doing the tough stuff in first 20mins can come on nice and fresh and tear the bunnies up the middle. Fingers crossed..

Taylor should have killed this off straight away Farah starts and we don't run with a second rower at hooker. He is enjoying publicly demoralising Farah and is unfit in my view to be a head coach.
Just shows the blokes character to be continuing with this rubbish.

I hope Farah moves on but I have grown to hate Taylor he is not only a poor coach but a petulant, vindictive child.

If he wants Farah out , then pay him out and stop this crappy game he's playing, Taylor is not smart enough to keep up this charade, he's already proved that,
All he's doing now ( if he leaves Farah on the bench for most of a game ) is wasting one of his best players, thus lessening his chances of even up his win / loss ratio which is diabolical.
Same thing if he plays Halateau at hooker for a lot of minutes.
A hell of a lot of people on here have been complaining that Halateau shouldn't be even in the team as a backup for weeks, As he's not up to first grade any more
Suddenly he probably is expected to start the games,
Going to be interesting how many repeat sets we are going to get from kicks into the goal area, our newly recontracted STAR halves seem to think that we get restarts by belting the ball into the shins of the defenders. Must be a new tactic.

If the club can't pay Farah out, them make use of the talent that we are paying for , and stop making the club a laughing stock
As said today , this is about money , not how good or bad Farah plays. , and I think he's Willplay reserves if Taylor wants to try that little tactic again, and then we will only look like bigger idiots

They can't pay him out for reasons I have pointed out numerous times in the past but can be summarised in two words - salary cap.

Even bigger concern than Halatau, Farah or Taylor is your use of the words 'befuddled' and 'flummoxed'. Wordsmith GOLD!

So theoretically, we could see a SOO player in NSW Cup because it is not a merit based selection but a means to force him to give up his contract so JT can spend the money on other players.
