Shame for Dene hope he gets back on his feet asap
I don't think this will affect Potter's selection headaches for Round 1 , didn't see him in our top 17 unless Fulton is still injured
Still haven't heard why Fulton didn't play last night .

Injury Update - Dene Halatau

Scans have confirmed Wests Tigers utility Dene Halatau will endure a lengthy stint on the sideline after suffering an ankle injury in last night’s trial match against Penrith.
The results of the scans showed Halatau suffered a broken ankle, as well as a syndesmosis injury and will miss between four to five months of football.
The injury occurred in the 58th minute of the match, with Halatau taking a hit-up close to the Panthers line.
It was a cruel blow in what was the experienced forward’s first game back in Wests Tigers colours since 2009.
Halatau will undergo surgery on his left ankle tonight.
The injury was disappointing on an otherwise positive trial match for Wests Tigers, with Mick Potter’s side scoring a 32-8 victory over the Panthers at Kirkham Oval.

Moltzen broke his kneecap at training in December but his initial prognosis has improved and he is expected back mid-season. The Tigers were impressive before a ground record of 5042 fans, running in three tries in the first 20 minutes through Chris Lawrence, Curtis Sironen and David Nofoaluma to lead 14-0 at the first drinks break after one successful conversion from Pat Richards.

Against a Panthers side missing recruits Jamie Soward, Peter Wallace, Brent Kite and Jamal Idris, the Tigers then ran in two tries in the 15 minutes after half-time through James Gavet and Keith Lulia to lead 26-0.

Penrith finally scored in the 60th minute through Isaac John, before Cory Paterson hit back for the Tigers three minutes later and Panthers centre Etonia Nabulia rounded out the scoring just before full-time.

Fingers crossed we don't have another injury plagued year. Very unlucky and hope Halutau recovers ahead of schedule.
Bit worrying that as it stands, Galloway, Brooks, Farah, Fulton and Moltzen are all injured.

With ACLs I always think of poor David Seage from Newcastle, was going to be the next Robbie O, but every time he tried to step he'd pop his ACL. Literally 12 months rehab, one game and he'd go down. Now playing up in QLD, it seems reduced impact and intensity has helped him retain some fitness.
Timmy Moltzen is starting to enter this same category, of dudes who get injured without being touched, just body break-downs. 2 x ACLs is bad, but I still can't believe he broke his kneecap without contact. I have terrible knees and know all about ongoing knee issues, but to break a bone without being hit… crazy.

Shouldn't be playing matches on a pitch like Kirkham Oval.
We're sitting around going "Ho-Hum… we are cursed". Wondering why people are getting injured all the time. Has anyone here heard of the Saipan Incident??
Meanwhile... Other well performing clubs are training on match class pitches that looked after by professional groundsmen...

It's tragic for Dene I really feel for the guy. But it might not necessarily be a bad thing for the side. IMO we'd suffer having both Fulton and Halatau in the same 17 due to their lack of size. I'd feel more comfortable carrying a bigger bench that isn't going to get rolled by the bigger packs or lose momentum due to interchanges.
