Half-baked Tigers out of options

Im happy for Lazo to get another go provided Sheens plays him at 7.

Moveing him around gave him no chance in the other games.

What WE as fans have to remember is that yes there is very good chance we will lose but as long as the performance is good thats what matters. The press will jump all over us but lets not get on their bandwagon call us pretenders etc etc.

It's what we think that is important and we believe

New kid in town … Blake Lazarus is expected to play halfback for the Tigers. Picture: Gregg Porteous Source: The Daily Telegraph
>
TIGERS officials don't want to shift Robbie Farah to halfback on Friday, fearing it would crucify his chances to dislodge NSW hooker Michael Ennis from the Blues team for Origin III.
>
The Tigers are facing a halfback crisis with Robert Lui named at No.7 yesterday but next to no chance of playing the Dragons.
>
Back-up options Tim Moltzen has a season-ending knee injury and Arana Taumata this week left to join the Cowboys, which leaves Blake Lazarus the frontrunner.
>
To make matters worse, new fullback recruit Wade McKinnon - one of five players who did not train yesterday - is also racing the clock to beat a hip injury.
>
Coach Tim Sheens will give Lui every chance to overcome a knee injury, but The Daily Telegraph understands shifting Farah from hooker to halfback was quickly shelved.
>
A starring performance by Farah at No. 9 will all but assure him Ennis's Blues jumper for the dead rubber against Queensland.

Interestingly, Farah also failed to train because of a corked shin but won't miss the trip to Kogarah.
>
Sheens said the short week had done none of his players any favours and Lui would be given plenty of time to prove his fitness.
>
"Robbie has a bit of a leg injury - he took a bump to the knee - there's no ligament issues, but we're just waiting for it to settle down," Sheens said.
>
"We will give him until the last minute to get ready, and if he doesn't make it I've got a couple of other options. In the next 24 hours I'll have a better idea. I'm not going to get ahead of myself. We're unlikely to consider Robbie [Farah] there."
>
Chris Heighington (hip), McKinnon and Lote Tuqiri (knee) failed to train yesterday, but Sheens said it was precautionary.
>
Sheens was delighted his Tigers had won four in a row, but did not see the Dragons clash as a guide to how well his side was travelling.
>
"I don't think this will be a defining week for us because there are still 11 weeks to go and I wouldn't think any side is in semi-finals form," Sheens said.
>
"Every team is up and down. Maybe the Dragons are just more consistent than most other teams at the moment, but they are in a similar position to us.
>
"They played Sunday and were involved in a bruising game [against the Sharks] and may or may not have some issues in their camp."
>
In brighter news for the Tigers, giant prop Keith Galloway survived his first-up hitout against Canberra and will start up front on Friday.
>
Farah was one of several players who last night joined their partners at Concord Oval for a cooking promotion with last year's MasterChef winner, Julie Goodwin, to help promote this weekend's Women in League round.

coming from the Telecrap I take this with a pinch of salt. We have'nt heard sqaut about us in the paper over the last 3-4 weeks when we having been winning but now ther is the possibility of us losing or injuries the CRAP jumps all over it. Red face Rothfield is again in his bandwagon today so lets just see what happens.

**Theres no similar story anywhere else.**

Theyre not always full of crap….just need to open your eyes a bit

.........The Tigers play St George Illawarra next in more hostile territory, at Kogarah this Friday, although they may pay the price for the physicality of yesterday's game. Captain Farah (shin), Heighington (hip), halfback Robert Lui (knee), winger Beau Ryan (neck) and fullback Wade McKinnon (hip) will be in some doubt for the encounter..........

Damn it! While I am not sold on Lui, we have noone else. With McKinnon at fullback, if Sheens does use Laz, perhaps he'll play at 7\. I reckon Fitzy will start at 6, Benji to 7… I hope this isn't the case... but fear it will be.

Darren Nichols…

Hmmm Jay Florimo not named in the 20' either....

Sheensy...it's all probably crap he's fed the Tele......

Nicholls for mine.

Kind of glad Taumata left when he did, otherwise I think he would have been chosen and the Dragons would run through him like a laxative.

Fitzy would be another alternative, but Sheens utilised him perfectly last weekend and he should stay on the bench.

He's been around the team long enough, so Fitzy to half back. All he needs to do is catch and pass

Sorry dude but no bloody way…....

last week proved that Fitzy's contribution to this side, until we have a full deck, is to come on as an impact player. He needs to come on and show massive enthusiasm and take a quite a few dummy half scoots - this is his strength.

I have been pushing Blake Lazarus's cart for a while now, but the injury he substained during the Newtown match 2 weeks ago and his general form since Sheens chewed him up and spat him out months ago has been slowly improving and I really feel that Darren Nichols is playing well enough to get the job done and deserves a chance , as there are other teams looking at his services for next year

I thought from left square - Flanagan to half back as he appears to be able to pass the ball and is good in defence and has been playing in the team structure most of the year. We then can bring another forward on the bench from State Cup. Maybe give Tame Topou a shot as a 15 minute wrecking ball. Lazarus has been tried and failed (I know not all his fault) and Fitzhenry is better as a bench player. I would not move Robbie or Benji as it has been tried before and failed.

Don't get me wrong mate, I'm a fan of Lazarus too, but he has generally been down on form and confidence since those games against Penriff and Canterbury. Once he returns to form and should he be needed, I'd be all for him to have another crack.

Lazarus was unfortunately the biggest casualty of Sheens knee jerk fixes.

I think if Lui is ruled out then it will either be Lazarus or Nicholls at 7\. I don't think Sheens will go with a makeshift half given the previous results from doing so. And if McKinnon misses out, well I'd put Meaney back there and keep Fitzy on the bench for utility value.

Give Lazo another go at halfback. Whilst I'm no Fitzy fan I guess he should be given fullback if McKinnon is out. I just pray Sheens doesn't try and manufacture positions.

Let's face it, Benji Marshall is better than Soward. Almost any random player would be a better 7 than Hornby. Sure he is a good player but he isn't really that much of a halfback. Flanagan or Fitzhenry are who I would move to the 7\. It's only going to be for one week anyway.

1\. Fitzhenry
6\. Flanagan
7\. Marshall

Good enough for one game.

I never thought the day I'd see those three words associated together. Granted, the man is in a rich vein of form [of two matches] but please….dont make me laugh. This is the same bloke who was an open gate for Gasnier at the same ground in 2004.

if all these injuries are as bad as they say….

either

1\. ryan
7\. nicholls

or

1\. ryan
7\. fizhenry
17\. daniela

or

1\. fitzhenry
7\. lazerus

2004???

What on earth has that got to do with this weekend?

Maybe I haven't worded my thoughts properly here, what I meant is that it's his only contribution to the side. IF he is to play, I don't want him starting…especially at halfback.

Agree 100%.

I was more amused by your linking of those words. I almost fell off my chair.

Dont you remember 2004? I do and it gives me nightmares. I dont want a repeat on Friday night.

actualy it was 05 when he dropped about 3 of Barretts bombs when we had a nice lead against the aints… Fitzy has never been forgiven since that game by the fans and we all as fans pick on him for somtimes the most little things (myself included)
