Can we win the competition without a regular experienced halfback.. will these make shift halfbacks get us there ?
MOLTZEN,,' i say,' NO we can't..
Taumata,'i say', NO we can't..
LUI,' I say 'NO we can't..

You are right..we are stuffed…..

Nah......Moltzen...Yes WE CAN.......but like always depends on sooooooo many other things.....

IF we were to sign one of these two players, Marshall wouldn't have to run around like a chook with its head cut off….. seriously.

NO SERIOUSLY!!!

 Some will tell you that's when Benji plays his best football…...

Besides what's Robbie doing while this is all going on.....

WELL ROBBIE can take a chill pill, as for MARSHALL, he reminds me of the old cliffy lyons from manly,,Great one minute, walkabout the next…As for robbie, well i don't want a hooker running the game from dummy half, i want an experience mature half doing it for me..

The way Robbie plays from dummy half, Benji and Timmy in the halves will work. We scored the equal most tries during the season this year and that was with Morris in the halves for half a season. Moltzen came into the halves and we went on a winning streak and scored plenty of tries. We should have Moltzen in the halves with Benji all year. Infact Moltzen should have been in the halves since the start of 2008 when I said. The only thing that worries me tomcat is our kicking game, including the conversions. If Benji, Robbie, Timmy and Taumata practice their kicking alot during the offseason then we should be sweet.

Tomcat, u asked the question, so ill give u my answer…...........for the 3rd time. This is my post in another thread where u cant get over that we wont have an experienced 7 next year.

Tomcat, the thing u aren't getting your head around is that we have a very unique structure with a dominant 9 who loves to get into first receiver (and do his best work there), and a 6 who is actually the man doing the organising, and also likes getting into first receiver. So with these two players there, the man wearing the 7 actually needs to more of a 5/8 than a halfback. He needs to be someone who can take a back seat when needed, but also take the pressure off at the right time from either first or 2nd receiver. Moltzen and Tuamata are perfectly suited to play this role along side Robbie and Benji. I think we may notice the lack of a genuine half if Benj or Rob get injured, but u cant go a buy a 350k halfback just in case of injuries.

Well then my friend,im sorry ,but we will not see the tigers in the 2010 grand final…i just wish you could get your head around the fact things need to change,.

Didnt u see a change when Moltzen went to 7 in 09? I think going from losing to winning consistantly was a change was it not?

Oh but things did change when Moltzen went into the halves. It only came undone when Lui was put at halfback.

sirro, it doesn't matter about the past,or about me getting my head around ,hookers five/eights and halfbacks.. we won the comp back in 2005, ..things need to change,,, BUY AN EXPERIENCE HALF..

But the recent past is relevant when thats the structure we will be going with next year. And so far, that structure has proved to work. I wouldnt have predicted it, but it did work. If u put the same question to me early in 09, i would have backed u all the way.

As things stand, the only half available is Orford. I dont think he would improve our side to an extent that would warrant a $400k contract. In fact, i could see him having a negative effect on the individual games of both Robbie and Benji. U may argue that Prince didnt have a negative effect, but u have to remember that both Benji and Robbie are very different players now. Both were rookies who needed that steady influence from our 7 when Prince was here. But now they own the game in there own right and both flourished when they had Moltzen at 7.

Mate, im not saying your wrong, u could be right, but if i had the choice between paying big bucks for Orford, or go with what worked late last year for 1/4 of the price, then i have to choose the youngsters from 09.

That we did …......with a former 5/8th playing half and a touch footballer.......so what's your point.....

Moltz and Benji will do me fine, an experienced half back would be an asset but It didnt win the doggies the title? Also Parra didnt have any experience and nearly pulled off a fairy tale. I think the halfback role is changing and the tigers are on the right track with our set up for 2010\. Ball playing hooker and 2X 5/8s I think its worth continuing from last season.

Happy to have any of those players partnering Benji in the halves. My first preference is for Moltzen at 7 though.
