We really need either Moses or brooks to stand up and own this team. Our forwards have stood up this year so far but out execuction has been sadly missing. It starts on Friday night against the dogs where we will need better options on last plays, general kicking, talk and direction around the park. Cause at the end of the day its the play makers that win you the game.
Maybe our halves will be given time or maybe they won't. Myself thinking another 2-3 more rounds to rectify or changes need to be made…..thoughts???

2-3 rounds? What the?

This whole season is about rebuilding. I'd allow the kids this whole season to learn the new system Taylor's implementing and for the spine to learn to play with each other.

We all need to temper our expectations of 20 year old kids. Not even JT, DCE etc were this quick to make a mark in first grade.

Well if one of them don't stand up soon we're going to need someone who will…hence why Drinkwater was picked up imo

dce was playing reserve grade at this age.

JT played off the bench for the dogs at this age for around 3 years (winning a premiership in his 3rd year)

lockyer played off the bench for 2 years at fullback before taking at least a little while to adjust to the halves (although at this point he was already the best fullback in the world)

cronk hadn't even debuted at this age

joey johns is a bit of an anomaly because firstly he was obviously a phenomenal player but also super league meant he debuted for the blues and kangaroos probably before his time. he also had an established half (his brother) helping him out

in short; give them a bloody break they're both 20 years old in the halves!

All the points you have stated means that one of them needs to go back a grade ya think??

and replace them with who?

also very hard to explain why our future 'superstars' are playing NSW cup for some average fringe first graders to the media and fans.

they'll stay in first grade. and they should, they will develop far faster there than in NSW Cup. unfortunatley we dont have the structures in place to bring them up more slowly. and by structures, i mostly mean depth in experience they can learn off of and come up into grade slowly under.

valid points but 2-3 more rounds is way too short sighted in my eyes (see what i did there? sighted…eyes?!).

it is pretty evident the club is well and truly committed to investing in brooks and moses as the long term halves pairing as they believe they have the right attributes to build a successful team around.

in my mind, whilst it is prudent to allocate generous time and understanding for this, if too long goes by and they're not "meeting their kpi's" in developing youd have to cut your losses at some stage.

very early days to be thinking about this yet though. if you think about it, if your employer was grooming you for a management role you would want clear outcome expectations and a very decent chance....

personally i would want to make a judgement on this with about 5-6 games of the season left (if they were out of finals contention) to give another player a little grounding and as a type of audition for next year.

JT played off the bench for the dogs at this age for around 3 years (winning a premiership in his 3rd year)

...and even then thurston was an injury replacement, even giving his premiership ring to steven price. *

*i hate that the players get rings. so american! whats wrong with the good old medals?!! :rant
