I suppose the Coach is having plenty of sleepless nights wondering just what combination of halves pairings for this week…maybe Benji 7 / Ashford 6....Payton 7 /Benji 6.... Hino 7 /Benji 6 or maybe just promote a lower grade 7 and Benji 6 any ideas ?

Why on earth would Sheens put Lawrence back to the centres this week and put Ayshford, Heighno or Payton into the halves..
If Lui is back obviously:
6.Marshall
7.Lui

If not:
6.Lawrence
7.Marshall

If Lui isn't fit it will be the same combo, Sheens said as much after the game.

After watching the press conference, I'll go with this.

Should be one of two combinations IF Lui is still out injured;

6\. Marshall 7\. Waters or….6\. Marshall 7\. Nicholls. Replace a half with a half.

Leave Lawrence on the left edge with Tuqiri. Their left edge combination is probably the strongest in the game at present. It sh#ts me to tears that Sheens has to always weaken one position to strengthen another. It's complete stupidity.

Sheens said at the post match press conference, that he does not have a half or pivot in the club that is ready to step up to first grade level, at this present time, so your prediction is shown to be well off the mark good sir

Actually EITHER Gobbs or sheens is off the mark.
Gobbs strikes me as a pretty good judge.

I saw/heard that comment and laughed. How does he know if neither Waters or Nicholls has been given an chance or opportunity to prove their worth? He'll happily shift and move Lawrence to 6, Farah to 7, Fitzhenry to 1, Marshall to 7 yet won't call on specialists to replace a specialist position. What's the point of having players like Waters and Nicholls at the club if neither player is a chance or aspiring to greater things? It's pointless. A Reserve Grade was primairly used to call upon players during a time of crisis when injury struck. Most Coaches still call upon players in the lower grades to step up when needed. Sadly, Sheens does not. And this is what hurts Wests Tigers in more ways than one.

Mate Gobbs was not making a prediction, he was just saying that when your no7 is broken you replace him with a no7 and I agree 100%. At present we are stuffing the whole balance of the team by playing Benji and at times farah in the no7 role. Last Friday night was painfull and the week before not much better. Really how dose Sheens know these other options are not up to scratch he never gives them a go and on the very odd time he did them a go he had them playing a different role evry second play

Gobbs a good judge?? He was the bloke i saw at the footy holding his head in his hands, almost in tears. I reassured him when Fitzhenry would come off the bench, WT would win the match. He shook his head in disbelief. And surely enough…what i told him would happen, happened..

Isn't that right Gobbs??

would not be suprised to see Benji at no 6, & Lazo at No.7.
time for another opportunity.
put chris lawrence back in centres, so he can have his good combo with Lote.

Would by my choice, but Sheens will not back down now, not his go he will persist with playing around with Benji,Robbie, Fitzy and maybe a couple of others all having a shot at the no7 role and we wonder why the team looks like a broken down bus in attack. On the other hand the "D" side of things has been pretty impressive in recent weeks except for a very late lapse against the drags

Lui is supposed to be back anyway.

When Tim Sheens made the statement he does not have a HALF or PIVOT, WHO is ready to step up to first grade level, does this mean that Fitzhenry, Marshall, Ayshford, Fulton, Lawrence or Farrah are or are not ready to play in the halves in first grade?
I agree with Gobbs, it is stupid to weaken one position to strengthen another.
Lawrence is one of the best young centres going around, so leave him there!
Marshall is one of the best five-eights at the moment, so leave him in his best position for the team.
Farrah is one of the best dummy halves in the competition, so don't weaken this position by moving him.
Fulton is a very good utility player, so don't waste his ability by playing him at half.
Maybe they should put the next best half in, inexperienced or not, and LET HIM PLAY AS A HALF!!!!! He might just surprise Tim!!

I'm pretty sure Lui will be right next week.

6\. Marshall
7\. Lui

Ryan looks to be back in round 19, so hopefully we see the following;

1\. McKinnon
2\. Tuqiri
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Brown
6\. Marshall
7\. Lui
13\. Heighington
12\. Ellis
11\. Fulton
10\. Payten
9\. Farah
8\. Gibbs

14\. Fifita
15\. Moors
16\. Dwyer
17\. Fitzhenry (I'd rather Flanagan, but we know Fitzy will be in the mix somewhere. Hoping he backs a shocker with a blinder.)

As I've said in the Keith Galloway thread, I think Big Red is short of a gallop and needs a run in State Cup to get his match fitness back.

Anyone catch the Sunday Footy Show with Rabs? he was saying he has spoken with Sheens about a month ago about the halves issues and Sheens said that if Moltzen wasn't injured things would be better as he's the preferred half or words to that effect…..

So was the original plan to ease Lote back into the game, then move him to fullback and Moltzen back in the halves?

Anyway, hopefully Lui will be right for the Titans game.
