Anyone else suspect that Cam has been asked to not make public his decision for next season so every other club fills their cap and has no room for Harry?

I think he’s a self centred selfish smug prick that needs a smack in the mouth

would make you think someone like that would want a year of fanfare

Only issue with that is they are holding back on JAC as such know we have more than enough cash for Grant.

It’s nothing to do with cash, Smith hasn’t advised anyone what he will do and the Storm have allowed him to make a call at the end of the season.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all

I’m not sure. I think he is that self centred in a sense that he will be happy to finish his career at the end of the season without a care of getting a send off.
Remember he did retire from Queensland and Australia after he played his last game for each team.

That's a good point, but I can't help but think that he just wants to add numbers to his tally

Cam Smith looked ready to retire last night. He used to get out of dummy half draw the markers and A defender and pass just before they could touch him. He was passing metres before the line last night and not showing much urgency in general.

He is still a good player but it is a big ask of a 37 year old to play hooker and be the distributor in the middle. The Storm have a running 5/8 and a fullback pretending to be a halfback. They also don't have a lock like Jurbo or Radley that can help him out controling the middle in attack.

Hardly conclusive proof but I think he will retire.

I think Smith's ego won't let him leave next year. It's too perfect for one last year with Bellamy, and he will want another day in the sunshine...I mean a testimonial 4 years before you retire wouldn't be enough for anyone let's be real, and no other team in the comp would feel the urge, or be obligated to spend their hard earned sending him out with all the pomp and circumstance that the storm owe him.....Only the storm and Smith owe each other anything

I hope he plays for the Storm one season too long.

he still kicks goals from everywhere, his passes all hit the target on the chest, sure he doesn't run anymore but he can still tackle and has the best league brain in the comp....a lot to hang on for

I wonder if another scenario may arise next year, that is Smith continues on however as a utility. I'm not sure whether his ego could handle that however it would allow BSmith/Grant the starting role and preserve Cam over the year coming on if/when required.

Ok I’ll have a guess too. Cam is waiting for some dominoes to fall , but if they don’t fall and Bellamy stays on for his final year at Storm, then so too will Cam. Meanwhile Mal is fully aware of this outcome and prepared to sign Harry to the Titans. Leaving Brandon to sign with The Warriors. Whichever way this goes I have a feeling the Storm may not be as strong from 2022?

Its not the biggest loss anyway. Liddle and Simpkins is a pretty goid setup honestly.

Fullback and 2nd row/lock needs to be sortedm

I hope the Storm get kicked out of the finals early that way Cam Smith feels he has unfinished business and decides to go round one more year, leaving Harry free to stay where his heart is -- Tiger town!

Requoted for truth. Grant IS possibly a once in a generation player but its in a position that we possibly have well covered. We love him and want to keep him because he is a great player , seems a great bloke and we have seen him in black, gold and white. If he hadnt been in our team, we would be watching him from a distance admiring him as a great player but thinking we have higher priorities than hooker.

Mind you if he stays for an affordable sum that doesnt cost us more critical additions, Id be happy

I can see the Broncos miraculously clearing players and finding room for Harry at money he can't refuse.
He would go a long way to fixing their problems... and he is a Queenslander.

I was thinking the same thing.
