Has Ellis been worth it?

Totally agree Deano Hope he gets over this groin \ankle issues and gets back to his best as he is important to both our defense and attack

It's been neck and neck between Ellis and Heighington for being the most consistent club man of the last 2 and a bit seasons.

Ellis being an 80 minute player was a welcome surprise when he started with us, and as per what others have said, he has added some massive starch to our defense, and size to our pack.

very good points- I am so glad you mentioned Heinington, both these players make such an impact on the field!!

What others do you speak….he is as important as Farah and Marshall...

Hits like a rock in defense and does the hard yakka coming out of our end....Often the one to get us going forward when others aren't doing much.....

He is still one of the premier backrowers in the game and could easily handle Prop...

Great buy....best import the Wests Tigers have ever had...IMHO...

Oh...GARETH ARMY...

Agree. Ellis has been an excellent buy.

Nail hit on the head with that one Geo!

Any 2 of these four…. scott anderson, josh miller, troy thompson, martin kennerdy, we need size upfront ....
Id keep BMM and mitch brown from who is off contract with the tigers.

Ummm…what is the question?????
Sensational hard working 80 minute player who runs a great line in attack.
So...he's been injured this year. That is not unusual in the Tigers team.
Wait until the Gareth Army get wind of this thread.

He never seems to ever be just phoning it in, looks like a complete effort player in ever sense of the word. Always runs the ball at 100% and smashes players in defense.

Always looking to cuts runs through the line - a genuine decoy or line runner - take your pick defensmen!

A total gentleman off the pitch. Always seems to have a smile on his face, and on the odd occasions I've met him, he seems genuinely grateful and impressed with the amount of love his fans give him.

Didn't score a try in his first season with us, not for lack of trying however, but his game was tweaked a bit in 2010\. Unfortunately so far hasn't risen the bar higher which I would have loved to see, although his injuries this year probably have not helped. He still is light years ahead of Burgess though in terms of comparing the imports.

Overall he has exceeded expectations, and has been totally worth it.

BUT

It has been cancelled out by the under-achievement of our other English Experiment - Flanagan. Unless they keep him to throw in the centres (Which Sheens is unlikely to do at this stage, if he's putting Moltzen there) he is a constant lack of impact for a so called forward - 8 pack and all, the guy is simply too small.

Ellis has been great for us and will play a major part for us in the second half of this season.
I don`t think Mark Flanagan is as bad as some might say he is, he hasn`t had much of a go and a lot of the times he has come onto the field in first grade for us has been when the forward pack as a whole has been outplayed.
Problem is that we have 4 back rowers who are all better than him, but I have no concerns at all with Mark Flanagan playing first grade for us again this season should the opportunity arise.
I watched the replay of BRET Vs North from last weekend and I thaught Flanagan was a standout in a very disappointing side.

I can't beleive this is a thread.

One of the best buys ever.

Unfortunately playing injured at the moment.

Best second rower in the comp. Worth ever dollar we pay him plus more.

So important to our final chances.

If he is not 100% rest him until he is as we have players returning now.

This bloke is one of the best poms i have seen as a lot of poms dont like tackling, was a bit worried when we first signed him but from the first game he has been great & a real good bloke off the field.

what more could he possibly do? perform a modern day miracle and have a male pregnancy?

he's killed it.

Im really Happy with Ellis, He started the recruitment turn around for the Tigers. I want to see him inflict some pain on opponents like he did in Year 1 and back in the ESL.

I wish he was twins thats how much i think of him and what he has given our pack.I honestly wouldnt swap him for any other back rower going around

I think Sheensie once said something like that, that if he had two Ellis-es he'd start them both.

Ellis- best buy the club has ever made. If I was a young guy coming through the grades at the Tigers, I would replicate how Ellis trains, prepares and plays. Cant wait until he recovers from his injury he just adds another dimension to our forward pack.
In regards to his attack, when Sheens plays him on the left edge beside Lui, like he did back end of last year, he is the best wide hole running back rower in the game. If you are ever teaching a young guy how to run an unders line, ask him to watch how Ellis runs his line. Perfect.

just as important as hodgo and prince were as buys.

imo when he isnt there our forward pack can go soft when it gets tough. he has made galloway, gibbs etc much better players by being at this club.

he obviously hasnt been fit to start the year, hopefully he comes back after the buy and picks up where he left off last year.

Agree with everything said, outstanding player, farily complete player.

2 player of the years prob is a good indication of where he ranks for us!

I agree, winning club player of the year 2 years in a row, when you have strong competition says enough. Not as though, there isnt strong opposition.
