DES Hasler has been stood down by the Sea Eagles tonight over alleged serious breaches to his contract.

Hasler had intended to coach Manly for the 2012 season, despite signing with the Canterbury Bulldogs from 2013.

But a succession of defections from Brookvale to Belmore prompted Manly officials to stand down Hasler for allegedly inducing players to break their contracts.

He will be given a breach notice and given a chance to defend himself before the Manly board.

The Daily Telegraph revealed this morning that the Manly board would meet today to discuss Hasler’s future at the club.

Board members were locked in tense negotiations for more than six hours discussing Hasler's future.

Since Hasler shocked the NRL by announcing his defection to the Bulldogs, Manly’s recruitment manager Noel Cleal and video analyst Will Badel have signed with Canterbury.

The Bulldogs are also favoured to snare the signature of Sea Eagles’ superstar five-eighth Kieran Foran, who is poised to exercise a get-out clause when Hasler leaves the peninsula

nah he's a crap halfback, we don't need him. He's been lacklustre for New Zealand. Great 5/8 though

I was thinking more 6\. Foran, 7\. Benji. Foran would even make a good 13, I reckon.

I think Bulldogs will over spend on him and offer him 400k +, not worth it imo.

Yeah, it may be a bit too much to spend on him now, but he'll be worth it in the future, imo.
 
Big news and I wonder what was going through his head? Yeah sure he signs, but then he starts taking other Manly staff with him, it's going to raise some eyebrows, not surprised they've taken this action.
 
Be interesting to see if Hasler ends up at the Dogs a yr early. Do the Dogs have a responsibility to honour Jimmy Dymock for 2012?
Good to see Manly in a heap though. I think old Maggie fans would call that karma. Yes i know that was 30 yrs ago, but hey, better late then never

definitley, he'll be one of the best current 5/8s. I just don't rate him at 7, makes New Zealand a poor attacking team imo
