Hastings lock

Hastings strength is organising the team.

ADs strength is his running game.

If anyone from our current halves should be at lock, its AD. Much more powerful runner and better leg drive.
I agree. I have also stated AD should be a lock and I saw nothing today to change my mind. He is a hogg and belongs in the back row. Pity his defence is poor. Matamua has proved to me he is not ready for first grade, Time to go to KOA, Pole can stay. He has earned it.

It was more of the same garbage with a lot of people wanting to pat the back of players who couldn’t even beat a team of reserve graders. Is that the game?
Yes that was it , a team who has no clue how to play football , u can’t win games playing one out football

Never again. We lack go forward as it is. Hastings is a specialist halfback he lacks power and speed but is smart and guides the team around the park well.

Terrible defender and would cost us big time playing in the middle.

Nah mate. Just because I see what the club sees doesn’t mean anything more than it is. You should try it. Be a lot less painless.
Mate footy causes me headaches but pain no way lol. I got my 2005 premiership and that’s enough for me. I will debate it, but it’s nothing more then a sport to me. I was a madge supporter and it wasn’t working so I moved on. But funny how the brooks fan boys will never move on from him, no matter how many games we lose wirh him in charge .

I haven’t even said one thing to defend him today.

The club has to make a decision by the end of the year. Brooks halfback Hastings leaves, Hastings 5/8 Douihei leaves. 3 players that want to play in the halves won’t work with new contracts and salaries.

The reality is Hastings is the easiest to move on at the end of the year and get a quality player back. I think this is the likely option.

The problem with Hastings at lock is that it limits the role of Laurie out wide and restricts Doueihi to one side. I get that they're trying to open it up more and play more attacking football, I'm just not sure we need that many playmakers. I'd rather see Doueihi and laurie moving around and Hastings distributing as a halfback from first receiver. I don't believe Hastings at 13 opened us up enough attacking wise to justify it. However, going by the post match press conference, Noddy is sticking with it next week and happy with how it went. I liked Joe O at prop and don't have a problem with him playing there, and I'd understand trying to fit them all in that way if Brooks was too important to drop, but I don't see it that way.

Exactly 🙌

It was a crazy decision to move our best player to prop to move Hastings to lock.Certainly Hastings was ok but why weaken 2 positions?Insanity at it's finest
It wasn't weakened at all, do you understand the diff between a prop a lock? Joffa is not a lock!!! Rightfully played prop. Did you see the numbers these two racked up today? Played in their right position. Hastings has a bunged foot! He can't kick much!! Lock is his position for now, until next season after surgery!

Thought all 3 “halves” were rocks and diamonds today but don’t mind giving the combination more time to work.
The bigger problem was the same one we have had for most games - our forwards are getting hammered. They are making no yardage, they are soft in D, have no line speed, are dominated in the ruck and are slow to marker and around the ptb. It is this glaring deficiency that is creating the scenario in every game where we simply are unable to stay in a game for 80 minutes.
Until we do something drastic to fix this we will not win one game!!

The Panthers were fairly poor today, however they had solid D with good line speed and were aggressive with and without the ball. They were far better than us in the basic things like support play and kick chase, kick pressure, winning the ruck etc.
We on the other hand can not do these simplest things consistently.

It is very clear to me that Api and Paps alone are just not enough to make our forwards competitive. We need to add a hard running prop and another back rower at least.
