I think this signing will make us as fans nostalgic for Braith anasta and Moses Mbye.

Silly comparison they won't over pay him

The thing i'm confused by is that we have Mbye already on the books who appears to serve the ball playing utility role very well (and played well there on the weekend). Now we're going to pay presumably half his salary to play elsewhere next year, whilst signing someone to play the exact same role.

Sorry, I must have missed that he has signed elsewhere with us paying half of his salary?

Which club was it?

Maybe we will keep him and sell Brooks?

I think we have some pretty smart blokes running the show now, I believe they’ll get it right.

Everytime Brooks is mentioned, his salary gets 100K added to it. Wonder if he'll make it the $1M mark by the time the year ends? 🙂

Agree... I very very much doubt we paid that much for Brooks.. I thought it was like 600-650k
Wonder if @THE_POM can clear this up as its seem to get people worked up for nothing.

If Mbye leaves which would makes sense if Hastings is coming, how much freight do you think we'll have to pay? If he's on, say, $800k, do you think anyone is going to pay more than $400k for him? Unlikely.

The blokes running the show signed Joey and extended Nofo for 4 years.

Hastings might end up in the 7. Either way we will end up with extra money, Hastings won't be on that much especially in his first year. Probably gives us an extra $100k-$250k to spend somewhere else next year depending on how much they pay for Hastings and Mbye

Really makes it look like Mbye will be gone though. Either that it Brooks is off

Should be a good signing for the magpies.

I can’t believe no other NRL club wanted him

There is a reason for that....He is a loner.

I could see the Bulldogs taking him back on 400k

Possibly so, and then we'd be paying i'd imagine $400k for Hastings so we'd be net the same as if we kept Mbye. If Hastings is a heap better than Mbye, makes sense. But is he?

But none of this has been stated, is my point, why make mountains, the club has all the cards.

Let’s get the bloke first. Don’t know what he has been offered.

I don’t think any signing is bad, until they show what they intend on bringing to the team.
Agree, Joey has been bad, but looked a good signing when we signed him.
Also, agree with Nofo, should not have been signed for so long, but he had a great year last year and may get it back?

Tamou had no idea about the Hastings news when asked on Monday, but he was happy to hear about the half’s pending arrival.

“I think that is great for the club moving forward,” Tamou said.

“Jackson has gone really well over in the Super League in the last couple of years.

“Obviously coming through the Roosters juniors, he has definitely got something there that I think will be important to this club.

“Having those couple of years of experience over in the Super League will be important to him, and just to bring his attacking prowess to this team will be important.”

I have a question how many Jackson Hastings threads will there be before we hear one way or another..

But ..but... Hartigan & Pascoe are the best in the business
