Having seen the finals thus far

I'm sorry , but as the style of prop Graham is Woods isn't in his ball park and no prop in the game is

Matty Johns (might be a fool , but he is a good judge ) said that Graham's selective passing game is only bettered by Joey

That's a massive wrap

100%. Woods is an honest prop, with potential, sure, but nowhere near the class / strength of Graham, or even Sam Burgess's toughness and athletic ability. Mind you, this is not a thread about the best props in the game, rather, to my OP, has our current crop got what it takes to match with the big boppers, when the stakes are high? As someone else said, Friday night was brutal. Personally, I think it would not have been made for the likes of Galloway, Siro, Gavet or Tapau, and this is where our new coach will need to work on. Stiffness (and grunt) in the engine room. When we had it (Fifita and Ben Teo come to mind) we just don't seem to know how to manage it.

jeez this forum is really positive.

we knocked off both grand finalists this year, and quite spectacularly both times i might add.

and you're worried that after a year of extra experience and training that our full strength team will get trounced next year? i'm doubtful. if we can knock off the premiers of 2013, 2014 and manly we should be aiming to do the same next year and i reckon we can.

let the spine build up a nice combo (fingers crossed no injuries there), get us into the top 8 pre origin. top 10-12 after SOO and then make a run for the finals as the team gels together for a top 6 finish.

forward pack should hold their own in 2015, after that its just simple errors and silly penalties we need to eliminate.

It took 24 rounds but I think Sirro's last game gave me some hope that he could develop to take the enforcer role.

pHyR3 I would be positive if I could see we were upgrading our facilities ,upgrading our S&C etc but we won't be

So how does anyone expect us to have less injuries when nothing will change ??

We are closer than what you think.

Potentially Woods is our James Graham and Sironen is our Sam Burgess.

What we need to recruit are experienced leaders on and off the field who will show these guys the way forward. Similar to what Gould, Peter Kelly and Chris Mortimer did for Penrith in the late 1980's. These guys were past their prime when they went to Penrith but they made that team into a powerhouse by instilling professionalism and hardness and work ethic into a talented bunch of young players.

Maybe that is what Parra is thinking with recruiting Watmough (although his is grub which rules out Bird as well)

Hard decisions need to be made…..for example is Farah the type of leader who is going to take this bunch of youngsters forward or do we try to offload Farah and back Cherrington to come through and go for a Gallen? Hoffman would have been good for us.....No prima donnas....just hard tough men pls......

What Larry said.

I don't know about that

If you compared us man for man against the last 6 remaining sides from 2014 sides we maybe win in 3 or 4 positions

We have lots of potential yes , but at this stage it is still only potential and has a long way to go until it fulfils itself

Stalker is back

S&C is not God. they can only do so much.

we had a lot of injuries but most were not soft tissue injuries. teddy getting bone damage, noffa get ligament damage, robbie getting bone damage, fulton was concussed half the time. these are all just BAD luck.

im not denying that we need improved facilities though.

i think lack of game plan twards the back end of the season, inexperience, injuries + robbie v tallis costed us the season.

You're kidding if you think it's just bad luck.
You also mention they are not 'soft tissue' and that Noffa had 'ligament' damage. A ligament is soft tissue…

Our S&C have done a very poor job in prevention and recovery when it comes to injuries, not just this year either.

I think you will find the NRL will try and change the way the game is played. The spotlight on head injuries is now massive. Their has also been a big drop off in interest, and I put this down to the wrestle as much as anything. Anyway with that in mind I think their will be a shift towards players who are fast and mobile with big engines

If this occurs it will be good news for NRL fans. The current method of playing NRL with wrestle tackles, mainly one out forward attacking, use of a huge interchange bench packed with forwards and regular kicking out of trouble on the fifth tackle has made NRL quite boring.

Having seen the finals this year they are the lowest standard.

Reckon if we were at full strength like early this year we are were Canterbury is.

They are the lowest GF team I've seen.

I think we aren't that far off but we need a lot of luck with injuries and a coach/team that can handle injuries well when they occur.

We just fell apart during the season when some injuries occurred and truthfully they weren't that bad. Tedesco was our biggest loss. He isn't at the level yet where losing him is like losing Robbie or Benji.

Sabre you are so right!
There is a big lesson to be learnt from the experience of the Waratahs. NOW DON'T IMMEDIATELY JUMP TO "THEY ARE ONLY UNION PLAYERS" BEFORE YOU HEAR ME OUT.
Going back a couple of seasons, the Waratahs had injury and recovery problems over a few years. The season before last they brought in modern techniques and University-trained experts in the field. These new techniques significantly reduced injuries and speeded up the recovery from injuries. This played a big part in their win this season.

They are in the midst of introducing a newer, improved system, which is state-of-the-art in America right now. If I understand correctly, the Waratahs will be part of the on-going development of this technology from now on. This puts them in the fore-front of conditioning, strength-building and rehabilitation world-wide.

The Tigers need to learn about this, immediately. The Roosters are way ahead down this road and our antiquated system is many years behind. :brick:

yeah i completely agree, only reason i wanted koukash to buy up this joint…

hopefully we move training grounds to somewhere good though, or get a good run of injuries as we very occasionally have in the last 15 years.

around the time we played the cowboys we simulataneously had Tedesco, Nofo, Richards, Simona, Brooks and Anasta out. That's our entire backline bar lawrence….

We had 2nd rowers being named on BOTH wings.

That is bad but I don't think we had too many occasions like that. I think Potter choose 2nd rowers in the centres and on the wings when he didn't have too.

100%
And I think a lot of people refuse to see it because Skando is a favourite son of the club, truth is he just isn't doing an adequate job of what he is employed to do and has supposedly done studies in.
More so than that though I think Luke Portese's role should be questioned. All this injury drama seems to have taken off since he joined the club.
I don't claim to know the ins and outs of what these 2 do at training and in terms of injury prevention and recovery but I do think it needs to be looked at thoroughly. No other team gets hit by injury anywhere near as bad as us on such a consistent basis.
