Hayne to Titans - Will it impact the Tigers??

this must be another one of haynes dreams to play on the gold coast. what a money hungry grub he must be, leaves the eels buts states if i come back it will be with the eels. then he gets knock back in the USA so he trys to steal a spot from fijian rugby player who has been there for years, that does not work out so comes back and now says i want to play finals football but gee the eels arnt in the semis so i will join the titans. dont get me wrong he has every right to make as much money as he can, but i hate the way he goes about it. and YES he will be playing this weekend.

Couldn't have said it better myself! What I don't understand is that he made such a big deal about how playing in the NFL was his big life long dream, but one setback has him packing his bags and coming home to 1\. try and gate crash in on the success of the Fijian Rugby team and gain himself an Olympic medal and now 2\. ride on the coat tails of an NRL team who are finals bound, so he can grab some of that glory for himself without even playing a single game for them all season!

He was doing pretty darn good in the NFL - if it was such a big dream of his to play in it, then why did he quit it so easily, instead of persisting with it and trying to work his way back into the main team? It certainly wasn't beyond his reach if he really wanted it like he said he did.

Hope they do slot him straight into the top grade, he will be miles off the pace and probably not great for team harmony especially the poor sod who gets dropped. I say he will be a benchie for a few weeks, might even play QLD cup in the Coasts feeder side

Good point. Not unlike the impact, I think, of the return of Sam Burgess to Souths. Lots of disquiet there. Results show it.

Could not care one way or the other. He has not played for 2 years, and he is no Reg Gasnier believe me. In my opinion, Teddy is a far better fullback than Hayne ever was.

The reason he joined the Titans (according to Hayne) was that he did not receive any offer from Parramatta.

Reg was a centre not a fullback … Can't you come up with something better ?

Hayne is a great player, there are plenty of rumours and conspiracys doing the rounds….you can take your pick.
I dont think this will impact us though

How about Changa, Eric Simms, Wombat, Joe Cool, Fairfax, Hodgo Knuckles?

He did get an offer but it was $400k a year less than the Eels one. Dont forget he just came back from training camp with the fiji sevens, so i dont think he is that unfit. Id much rather play him this week then next.

As mentioned in another post is that the Titans are basically run by the NRL along with 3 other clubs, the Tigers being one as well as Newcastle & SG-ID, whenever the talk of a high profile signing comes up the Dragons are always front and centre however they have massively missed the boat here.
I commented when Konrad Hurrell signed with the Titans that all 4 clubs should have had a chance at picking him up, the Tigers and the Knights seem content to stick with their home grown talent and stick to what they can afford.
It wasn't that long ago that the Gold Coast were a basket case, heavily in debt and now they sign up the Hayne Plane, all I can suggest is that as it isn't a level playing field for even the NRL supported clubs then the player draft has to be re-introduced, good luck finding that $1.2 million to pay him BTW!.

If it's in the rules I don't have a problem with it, no matter how it may impact us.

If the roles were reversed and he was coming to us I'd be praying he'd be getting a start with us ASAP.

It is 100% against the rules. You can not get a clearance from your old club after June 30.

As others have said, it means the Eels will have a large war chest to have a crack at Moses or Brooks.

Milford and Hunt Pearce Reynolds (both) Bird Johnson Taylor and Thurston are off contract as well,,,No interest in them…?

Sure. But I suspect many of them will be locked up by their clubs before Moses and Brooks are by us.

Totally agree. He is the new mercenary now that Money Bill is staying with Union.

Which club? the 49'ers or the Fijian Sevens team?

Hayne will be underdone.

I think it might actually help us beat them.

I can see it disrupting them this year..

Next year, different story.

The registration form for rugby league asks if you have ever played rugby league before? If the answer is yes, you must obtain a clearance from your previous club.
Has Hayne played rugby league before?

He's playing NRL, not park football.
There's no restrictions in terms of timing for signing players from outside the NRL.

Only because the NRL changed the rules.

Do they need a hooker? Going cheap. Experienced. Can start tomorrow!

What an infantile comment if Robbie went there he would tear as a new one.

True, it was a bit of a cheap shot but the bottom line for me is I don't care where he goes as long as he does it sooner than later.
Re tearing us a new one, he will do that wherever he ends up if he leaves. For me I'd rather see him at his best scoring points against WT as an opponent than stifling WT ability to score points from within.
On the other hand he could always stay at WT, swallow his pride and play the way the coach wants him to. Reckon he'll do that?
