HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Clare Burgess. Wife of Dennis.

Julie Romero was the partner of Peter Hardgrove. His brother was John Hardgrove, gave up his debenture holder status.

The Hardgrove's appeared to be good people, but as you can also see, It's simply a clique. It's who you know.

Bear with me here …

Dennis Burgess decides that things are getting a bit hot in the kitchen and decides to step down …

The debenture holders have a vote on his replacement … and wouldn’t you know it … there was unanimous agreement that his wife Clare was the best replacement ..

With an exit statement that indicated fully that he’s not left the game.
Just thinking whats the use of holding a rally if the person didn’t want to fight for his position , I wanted Richo to stay but he has just rolled over and left benji and the players to look after themselves, surely he could have stood up to them at least untill the nrl had looked at the situation

Or...he could just resign.

In the middle of an NRL investigation.

While clearly agreeing not to say anything to the media in order to get his payout, that should have been due to him if the clauses are to be believed.

He stood to his word that he would only work under strong governance. Principles, if HBG are reading.

I distinctly remember Pasco being quoted saying while at the Tigers while being criticised that there were things he wanted to implement that HBG knocked on the head.
Imo HBG did not govern what Richo could do that's why imo the independants were removed. They stack the board then can control how much autonomy Richo has. Though Richo is autonomous he just runs things so that would never work hence he walked.
That's my point exactly doesn't matter who's there they will be either aligned with HBG objectives or hamstrung cause HBG will vote it down at board level. We had Madge and Ivan Cleary who left. Both hamstrung due to interference at board level. The board intervened with Madge cause he was too hard on the players, Cleary reportedly saw the boardroom politics and knew it wasn't good for success.
Hasn't exclusively been HBG Wests Campbelltown and Balmain were involved aswell. But there's a repeated behaviour of owners at Wests Tigers whoever they are thinking they know how to run and operate a rugby league team like they're playing fantasy football, people who actually know how to run as far from it as they can.
If anything HBG held onto Madge too long & it was Lee & Pascoe via Sheens that moved him on.

Cleary moved once he realised Nathan wouldn't come to the Tigers. Not sure HBG had much to do with that.

Pascoe...here is what I'll say about HBG. If you are the significant share holding financier....whatever they are....no company owner is "hands off". What kind of company would hand everything over to someone else & expect no say in it?

Pascoe was given enough rope to hang himself 10 times over. HBG allowed him to do that.

I will say in fairness to Darcy, I don't know him personally, but I have no doubts he's a legitimate serious supporter. @cochise or one of the podders could also chime in because they've spoken with him.

I see Darcy regularly at home games and he's also often watching matches at the club; never seen him do this in his capacity as mayor, always dressed casually and keeping to himself.
I’ve seen him watching and supporting the Tigers at the pub a fair few times when we’re playing away games with a few friends.

I’ve seen him a few times in the inner west doing this a few times; like you said dressed casually, low

He’s a legitimate supporter and I don’t know him personally.

There are some very good people on that list 👍

The events of the past week had ZERO to do with the colour of the jersey. I personally think it looks hideous - but none of the Board shenanigans are in any way tied to this fashion faux pas.

But hey, every time the Wests Ts hit the headlines - the usual Wests/Balmain tropes and myths are unleashed 🙄
Mentioning that the Tiger is a strong brand is not a Balmain trope. It’s an opinion backed up by fanbase data. The Wests Tigers large fanbase are its strength. It’s obvious from their behaviour that the HB Group are not qualified to run a NRL franchise. Smart investors let the experts run the show. PVL’s silence smells to high
heaven.
No, I’m sure this is the right place. We’re all Wests fans here 👍
You mean we’re all Wests Tigers fans here.
