HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

They tackle all the big issues, like shades of orange.
5 magpies fans all in a row ringing up going ballistic about being 90% owners and the size of the magpie on the sleeve smaller than normal and too many balmain jerseys at Leichardt oval.
Papworth and Hughes just laughed at them and said wests have run the joint since 2013 and not made semis
nrl please step in lol

Is there precedence for that? Has the NRL ever revoked a licence due to the way a club has been run?
The eels ? They enforced the removal of the board . But the difference between us and the eels is the debenture bullshit . You can create a ticket and run for the eels . You can’t do that with HBg/wests . The club is literally at the mercy of incompetent fools.
I know in other leagues around the world with incompetent owners running franchises the ARLC equivalent did force sales .
It’s funny though because I think if the people running HBG were presented with the option , well the club now for the good of the club , and retain ownership , have the license revoked and put the club in jeopardy ie. wests don’t own the club anymore … I think they’d chose the latter .

We're going to have to rename Shane Richardson, Icarus - it sounds like he flew too close to the sun and is about to come crashing to ground and bounce through the exit. Booting his supporters on the board is just the first step.

Footy is a weird animal. Maybe the same goes for life? Small things like a jersey colour can easily escalate into big things.

Reading between the lines, Richo and the independent directors may have been under a naive belief that being "independent" = running roughshod over the club owners and reps on the board.

I may be wrong on the above and have zero insider knowledge.

As much as I am a Richo fan, I don't think this is the end of the world if he does end up leaving.

Richo is not perfect … but he seems to have turned around a number of things on and off the field .. I’m not sure who is the next one coming to replace him to work under the debenture holders that control the club

There’s probably only one desperate fool who would do it and it’s not Dustin Dascoe

Closest is the warriors. Auckland RL sold the warriors to the Maori tribe tainui back in 98. The understanding was if they gave up the license or the company set up went broke the license would return to A RL.
When they did go broke NRL stopped the license going back to Auckland RL and sold it to Eric Watson.
