Heamasi Makasini #303

Cleary is a generational talent. Do you think all players need to be up to it at that age?
Didn't this forum hype him up like that? That Makasini was going to be the new star centre in the nrl? Nathan is one of MANY 18-year-olds to debut and turn out to be good first graders, not just generational talent.

There’s no reason Makasini can’t be a great first grader. But just because he’s not the complete player at 18 is irrelevant

We should have slowed the hype down and allowed this kid to develop a season in Flegg then next season in KOE and then later in the bloodied in First grade. This poor kid has been rushed into first grade and his football shows it.

And he’d have only played a full season of first grade at our club. You think he’s a regular first grader anywhere else at his age?

Is it just me, or does this guy seem to get worse and worse? Herbert leaps and bounds better than this guy, and Herbert is an NSW Cup player... don't know why we re-signed him after a trial game highlight reel.

Cost us the game yesterday with another one of his poor defensive reads thats been going on all year
He's 18, playing injured and his confidence is gone.
He needs to finish the year in cup, and start next year in cup and earn the call up and enjoy his footy again..
He will be a star, but I don't think he should be playing NRL for at least another 12-24 months..

He is nowhere near ready to be a centre yet, next year he should be on the wing with Averillo and May in the centres.
Defensive reads as a centre have been a real issue for the young kid. Has problems with the high ball, but seems more effective as a winger to me. I know it was only a trial, but that trial match against Penrith where he killed it, pretty sure he played on the left wing

Seriously what is said on here has no bearing on anything.

And comparing him to one of the best players in the game is just ludicrous

Some.insanely hot takes there

All the above re Makasini is true...but weve just upped his salary with a new contract!!!
So weve now got a half million plus/plus player who for next 12 months is really a KOE winger and no more
We just pee $$ away to Benji loyals
Same as May and Bula, now almost $1mill players...$$ which we now cant use to attract new talent
Benji has way too much say over all things footy except directly to the players themselves about their lack of accountability and performance
"Im proud of the boys today"...really??
The fans arent

The problem is that we have little choice at centre after injuries. He definitely should be on the wing if playing at all. But there’s no one else - the same posters complaining about him getting a run are screaming out for Saukuru to be playing centre!
There is simply no depth in our squad.

Just how many INJURED centres have we got.

On players playing injured.. I would be very surprised if Benji is pressing any player to play when they should not be due to an injury. More likely that the player, the physio and Benji discuss each individual case on a week to week basis with the player making that final decision. The only pressure would come from the mindset that nobody wants to let their team mates down.

He is also playing injured, i never see him getting clean ball in any space...seems to cop hospital passes with the defence in his face. That left side attack always seems to be cramped in, i dont know if its Luai going too sideways or the general positioning of his outside men. The never seem to have any room to move.
The lack of quality ball our backrowers and centres get is insane. Who'd want to be an outside back at the wests tigers.

At the start of the year turuva was one of the best wingers in the comp. Hed struggle to start at any club atm
