Heath Mason #288

I really like him. I haven't heard any interviews or anything like that, but the way he behaves on the field makes me think of a good teammate.

You can always see his little headgear in and around the ball. Never tries to milk penalties and isn't afraid to cop a shot.

Hope we don't loose him.

Think about Galvins game.

Then think about Masons game he made a 1 on 1 tackle to stop a try, against a big guy, took him head on, then he made 1 half break and offloaded to Api as he was falling, if Api holds that slightly bad pass, a poss try,
And he Scored himself a try.

Who needs Galvin.

Was literally about to say that.

Luai's kicking is actually not bad. With Api and Da Silva able to chip in, Doueihi could be the secret weapon.

Look at the Cowboys. Dearden & the young 5/8 are not kickers. Drinkwater from fullback is.

You don't need a cookie cutter style gameplan. Slot Mason into a wider role on kicking plays, let Doueihi put in the spiral bombs...get creative.

We have come last trying to play the way the other teams play.

Our kicking game improves when our kick chase is good. That is FAR more important.
Haven’t watched the game against Cowboys

About the kicking aren’t Luai and Doueihi both on the left side of the field ?

Having a fullback as a kicker is a bonus as can place themselves anywhere on the field.

When Latu Fainu returns how is his kicking game ?

That's kind of my point though.

If Doueihi & Luai ARE on the same side 90% of the time, but you want Doueihi doing some tactical kicking....swing him inside on tackle 4/5 & play the 5/8 out wider.

Doing what every other team does and being worse at it, isn't working.

It's ok to be the innovator.

I go back to the SOO series where Latrell & Turbo played centres & Teddy played FB. Everyone questioned it & then NSW blew QLD away by having them roving around all over the place.

Being different isn't being worse.

I’m all for players not being locked into what they call corridors today and to be free to roam around the field.

With Turbo & Latrell in that Origin team I think it was more for their running (attacking) game than for kicking.
Plus your talking about elite players there not Adam Doueihi.

I have said many times I dislike how structured the game is today
But unfortunately I don’t think it is going to change anytime soon.

True Dennis but when Gould was complementing Latu, I thought the wonderful Bulldogs' development system at it again.

Let's not make this about Galvin, he's gone.
But mason missed 11 tackles in an NRL Game and it's just not acceptable .. not when you have players who miss 0

The R side decision making of Sukkar, Mason and To'a was pretty bad.

Showed that they haven't played or trained much together.
Don’t forget Turuva
He should have stopped Jenkins from scoring 1 of his tries.
Penrith Sorensen saved a try at the end of game which made the difference.
Turuva has good yardage in attacking and finish’s well
BUT
Here I go again DEFENCE wins games.

I assume that includes the ones where he's covering for the Winger that's 'supposed'
to be 2 men outside him?

Regarding Turuva, he should have stopped it but one on one with the line 2m away, you're 50/50 at best.

Decision making of inside men and Bulas positioning also contributed to it.

Tedesco and Edwards would have been there IMO.
