Deadwood, Great to see him leave.

Mate! Show just a smidgen of respect. Whether you think management has made the right decision or not … Chris Heighington played 201 games for this club over 10 years and was (is) one of the most wholehearted footballers any of us have seen. He is a club legend. Class it up a tad, yeah!

Thats right, a great clubman. I just wished he had picked up the ball from the scrum base a couple of years ago and not just look at it..no matter..

It didn't make a difference as we still beat Raiders the following game to play the Dragons in the final (heighno not picking up the ball vs the Roosters in the semi).

''Benji is one of my best mates,'' Heighington said. ''We've played footy together for 10 years and have grown really close. He's disappointed for me and for him, in his mind, **he likes to play with his best mates.**''

Proves to me that if you're an average player, all you have to do to get picked for first grade is be best mates with Benji. Just emphasises to me that moving him and Ryan on was the best decision for us long term. Probably should have been handled better but still the best move all the same. Hopefully now this opens the door for players in the lower grade to get a shot at first grade who would have normally been behind the likes of Ryan and Heighington.

We really don't know how to handle a contract negotiation do we!!!!
Between the Blair deal, Gibbs & Fifita,
Moltzen v St George saga now the
Heighnigton, Ryan handshake deal
Is It Sheens or Humphries or both fault that we don't know how to negotiate a contract?

As for Heighno good luck I still believe he had 2 more good years left in him & could be great impact off the bench

Heighington, Ryan, Gibbs, Fifita, Morris, DeGois and even coach Flanagan … Reckon the Sharks are our second favorite team next year (although Rothfield counters that to some extent). Exciting for all those guys ... Cronulla is the great unconquered frontier of rugby league ... Imagine being apart of their first ever premiership ... The place would go wild: it would turn into an absolute RIOT!!!!

Good luck to em.

While I too am upset that Chris & Beau have left the club, we all have to make adjustments, I think a lot of these players have been together far too long and the "forever brothers" thing is ridiculous, can't you still be "brothers/friends" after you move on from the "club" it seems with these people they think when they leave a club they can't remain friends, and if they were all playing good football, they wouldn't be getting moved on :bulb:
In any case I would like to wish Beau and Chris all the best at the Sharks

Yeah, I agree. This whole saga has left a real bitter taste in my mouth and shitted me off big time. Where's the loyalty from club to players? I see that the players have loyalty to the club. Look at last year with the Moltzen deal, Tim didn't want to go but they said go, he got a deal with the Dragons then when it suited the Tigers after Lui bashed his girlfriend they gave him a call and said we'll need you Moltz, Moltz came back and had to deal with people bagging him all year. You cant treat players like crap when it means so much to their lives. Treat them with respect and dignity or at least how you would like to be treated yourself. If you ask me what goes around come around and you reap what you sow.

had a handshake agreement with the club's management that meant at the end of this season he would receive a two-year contract to ''see him off''.

Fairly poor management if that really happened.

Mind you, fairly poor management seemingly allowing the players to pick the squad…... :crazy

I agree.

He's definitely past it, surprised he didn't seek out a SL deal…
Hate to see how ineffective he is towards the end of his new deal, especially in comparison to how unbelievably infective he already is now.
