Heighington

People will bag me for this but say what you like, Heighington has to be one of the most ineffective players in the game today.

I don't doubt or question his effort but effort can only take you so far. He makes next to no impact in either attack or defense.

He makes tackles but none of them ever punish the opposition.

He makes meters due to the amount of hit ups he takes but he is dominated in every almost every play, just hits the line and drops, no leg speed, no impact.

He runs into the markers on every hit up, makes no attempt to ever hit a hole.

My problem with Heighno - as it has been for 5 years now, is the way he runs the ball up.

He goes at half pace, sometimes from a standing start and then mucks around on his tippy toes losing any momentum he may have generated. Couple this with his insistence on running back into the markers and I agree with you that his stats make him look better than he actually is.

He has been ineffective in attack for ages.
He did make a few good tackles but him and Fulton are really struggling to make yards.
Can't see how they can keep them on the field together.

Yep. There were a couple of seasons where he was killing them. Those seasons appear to be over.

Fulton is simply too small.

Woods and Ellis are the only two forwards that are doing their job. Bell might be as well but he is out there for about 2 minutes a game.

Yup, I agree

I actually said this last year, when I noticed that every hitup he makes, he either:

1\. Runs up to the markers, does the "I wanna be like Benji" hop and gets creamed; or

2\. Runs up to the line, does the "lets do the Jordan 360" spin and gets creamed.

Defensively, I wont comment because the team as a whole is failing - they wont even be able to compete against most of the NYC teams at this stage

Last year when there was talk of Heighno being shopped to Panthers, most fans here were ready to rip Sheensy and Humphreys heart out.

Funny that.

Every time he gets the ball I feel it's a waste of a tackle

Heighno was looking effective out wide when he started there.

With Blair not taking hit ups and not defending properly he was quickly shifted back towards the middle.

His runs are symptomatic of a structure with no shape or depth, which was compunded by disgraceful service from shovel hands Fulton

Fulton's service was abysmal, agree with you there. Even basic one out passes were thrown above the head.

Still think Hino is completely ineffective in both attack and defense. Was also largely responsible for Canberra's first try.

rhino is reminding me alot of hindmarsh atm.Has anyone noticed he was playing well when trying to get a nsw jumper, but since he has his pommie one his form has gone down?

Heighno may not be in great form at the moment, but he's one of the few having a go at the moment. And to be honest, who do we replace him with if Fulton is in the same boat?

yeah i did, because it was dumb to replace him with blair who asked for way to much money and is useless running the ball, when he bothers to.

we were happy to shop around rhino and fulton and replace them with the most over rated player in the game.
yeah i had a problem with that.

While I am thinking about it Heighno has his best work in conjunction with another forward at the line because of his passing ability.

I can count on one hand the amount of times our forwards ran in pairs last night.

Even when they got their heads through the line ala Woods Moltzen was too busy talking to Benji to support the ball carrier

Yep that is how I feel unfortunately. Heino trys to get the quick play the ball and sacrifices any metres on his charge. Unfortunately, the rules no longer allow players to get quick play the balls this way.

I admire him because I think he plays with heart and is a loyal servant.

Howevert he has always been just your run of the mill average First Grader in my opinion. Could never understand the Origin hype around him over the years.

He is honest but he's average.
