**Nathan Hindmarsh picked in Australian Four Nations squad**

AUSTRALIA'S selectors today named Nathan Hindmarsh in the 24-man squad for the Four Nations tour.

Hindmarsh has not played for Australia since 2007 but has been called up on the back of the Eels' memorable grand final finish to the NRL season.

Test coach Tim Sheens said form dictated the squad, with seven rookies picked and five incumbents from the May 8 Test win over the Kiwis omitted.

Robbie Farah, Ben Hannant, Michael Jennings, Luke Lewis, Josh Morris, David Shillington and Brett White were all selected for the first time.

Luke Bailey (arm) was not considered due to injury, while fellow incumbents Darius Boyd, Brent Kite, Glenn Stewart and Anthony Laffranchi were left out.

Minor premiers St George Illawarra and third placed Gold Coast did not have a single player selected in the touring party.

Premiers Melbourne had six players selected, with Cooper Cronk and Ryan Hoffman winning recalls alongside White, Greg Inglis, Cameron Smith and Billy Slater.

Hindmarsh and Jarryd Hayne were the only representatives from the losing grand finalists.

David Shillington is the bolter.

"Bailey was unavailable … the other (four) missed out on, I suppose, form when you think about it," Sheens said of the incumbents omitted.

"It is a side picked on recent form."

Sheens said there were still injury concerns over some players in the squad and those in doubt would need to prove their fitness before the team departs on October 16.

Sheens said there were some shadow players on standby, but did not name them.

"There are some issues and quite a number of players still in doubt," said Sheens.

"If you cannot run and complete training then we have to think about it.

"We cannot add to that squad after we leave. This 24 is the only 24."

Australian squad named for the Four Nations rugby league tournament in Europe: Petero Civoniceva (Penrith), Cooper Cronk (Melbourne), Robbie Farah (Wests Tigers), Israel Folau (Brisbane), Paul Gallen (Cronulla), Kurt Gidley (Newcastle), Ben Hannant (Bulldogs), Jarryd Hayne (Parramatta), Nathan Hindmarsh (Parramatta), Justin Hodges (Brisbane), Ryan Hoffman (Melbourne), Greg Inglis (Melbourne), Michael Jennings (Penrith), Darren Lockyer (capt, Brisbane), Luke Lewis (Penrith), Josh Morris (Bulldogs), David Shillington (Canberra), Billy Slater (Melbourne), Cameron Smith (Melbourne), Sam Thaiday (Brisbane), Johnathan Thurston (North Queensland), Trent Waterhouse (Penrith), Anthony Watmough (Manly), Brett White (Melbourne).

Not sure on some of the selections.
Petro, is I think still injured. My Props would of been - Hannant, Perry, Weyman, Kite & Petro. I assume Steve Price is also injured.
I just cant stand Gallen and I think he is lucky to included. I would of rather have Dave Talyor or Tom Leyord Lars in the squad who can cover Prop and 2nd Row.

My 1st Test team would be out of the 24 that have been picked:

1- Billy Slater
2- Jarryd Hayne
3- Justin Hodges
4- Greg Inglis
5- Israel Folau
6- Darren Lockyer
7- Johnathan Thurston
8- Petro Civoniceva
9- Cam Smith
10- Brett White
11- Anthony Watmough
12- Nathan Hindmarsh
13- Luke Lewis

14- Kurt Gidley
15- Trent Waterhouse
16- Sam Thaiday
17- Ben Hannant

Players to miss out on 1st team would be - Robbie Farah, Paul Gallen, David Shillington, Mick Jennings, Josh Morris, Ryan Hoffman, Cooper Cronk.

Im reasonably happy with the side except id go with:

Luke Douglas > Dave Shillington
Kade Snowden > Brett White
Tom Leroyd-Lars > Sam Thaiday

Good to see Robbie there, I wonder what the Dogs fans think?

Wooo suck on that Ennis. Dogs fans will probably claim Sheens is biased and chose Robbie. Bias for talent.

Don't see how Gallen got a spot. He was out for quite a bit this year and when he did play was nothing special. They've got enough guys who can play lock instead - Lewis, Waterhouse, Watmough - and should've called in another prop in his place, maybe Dave Taylor, TLL or Josh Perry. Shame for Galloway, he had a real chance to get a game but he's cursed with injuries.

Good to see one of the Morris boys get in there. However I think it's gonna be hard to break into the back line with Slater, Hayne, Hodges, Inglis and Folau there already. Sheens was right to leave Boyd out, he's nothing special at all. Even all the Queenslanders hate him being chosen for Origin haha.

My team would be:

1\. Slater
2\. Hayne
3\. Inglis
4\. Hodges
5\. Folau (although he's been average the second half of the year)
6\. Lockyer
7\. Thurston
8\. Hannant
9\. Smith
10\. Civoniceva
11\. Hindmarsh
12\. Hoffman
13\. Watmough

14\. Gidley/Farah
15\. White
16\. Shillington
17\. Thaiday

Gees, trying to make that team really emphasises this is a Sheens special. Sooooo low on props! As said in the article he's gonna use Thaiday as a prop. He's gone in with so many reserve backs - Morris, Cronk, Jennings and heaps of utilities like Gidley, Lewis, Farah to an extent. If one of the forwards goes down (and Civoniceva already has an injury cloud), the Aussies could be in some real trouble against the forward packs England and NZ have.

I thought Creagh would have been in the squad. I'd choose Hindy at lock forward.
