Following on from the "What song are you listening to" thread...

What are people's thoughts or opinions on hip hop/rap music? And if you like it or any or some, what in particular?

Interested to hear what people like @GNR4LIFE think and if they like any, what is it? All you Pearl Jam fans too.

I personally am a huge fan.
Grew up in the 90s with 2pac, Ice Cube, Bone Thugz and all that vibe...
A lot of it doesn't hold up well but Tupac is and always be a God.

The newer stuff is more what I'm into. Always hearing new great songs.
Artists like Xxxtentacion, Lil Peep, etc.. kinda branching hip hop into other genres such as grunge, rock, etc... refreshing. R.I.P those guys.

Anyways...
All subjective as always... let's discuss. Negative or positive, it's allG.

RIP Juice Wrld loved his music

Love Roddy Rich and DaBaby atm

The Kid Laroi is a young aussie kid who is abosutely blowing it up in america atm, he hasnt got a bogan aussie accent either, which makes the rap more enjoyable lol

Denzel Curry is also a lengend

Laroi is corny as.
Looks like a little geek with his weird haircut.

His songs are great tho. I agree.

Juice wrld was a super talent too.
The drug culture is too hectic at the moment, taking a lot of young talents.

I'm a massive fan of the old school stuff. Epmd, black sheep, tribe, main source, gang starr...you get the idea

Public Enemy, Run DMC, Beastie Boys.

80s style.

Beastie boys were mad back in the day.
Use to skateboard to some of their tunes.

Everytime I hear Wu-Tang clan I think of Chapelles racial draft.

Blinded by the lights.

Haven't heard of him for ages.
I love UK hip hop.

Not a fan of Kendrick at all.
Wu is timeless...

Growing up I was indoctrinated on Eminem as it’s all my older sister listened to, and when she listened to him the whole neighbourhood listened to. I know his first 4 albums pretty well as a result. By the time she moved out of home, I never wanted to listen to him again. Just through burn out. Years later though, I grew an appreciation for him, Not that I ever listen to him. Though I do have his discography on my hard drive.

I listened to Eazy-E for a while in my early 20’s. Boys in the hood is a great tune

Question for you Demps. Is 2Pac alive?

Never been a fan of it as I don't see them as singers per say. Plus I'm a sucker for a good guitar riff and some solid drumming, not a drum machine producing fake bass.

I think everyone had the Eminem phase.
First few albums were good the downhill after Eminem Show...

All the new stuff he puts out is horrible to me..

I don't think 2pac is alive but I read there is a new documentary coming out next year exploring this in depth.

I’ll listen to most Genres of music but refrain from rap, techno and Heavy metal.

And why is that?

I am very similar to this, just never really got into it even though friends of mine did. The closest I ever got was Run DMC and the Beastie Boys.

The soundtrack to the under rated cult classic Judgement Night back in the early 90s was an interesting sound track with rap/hard rock artists collaborating.
