Hodges

That's poor form by the judiciary to back down from penalizing Hodges for that tackle….they are basically confirming that it is acceptable to tip a bloke onto his head. The next Alex McKinnon scenario that occurs (pray that it never does) in an NRL game the blame will be on the heads of the NRL heirachy and I hope the shifty bastards get sued for every cent they have. What a farce. Hope Hodges gets knocked out cold as a spud by a shoulder charge on Sunday night and the perpetrator gets off scot-free. Go Cows.

Went with the 'Wouldn't have happened if he didn't duck his head' defence….

Wonder how much weight that defence would have carried if Guerra was now left with a broken neck? Maybe they should of just gone with the "I play for the Broncos and we are protected species and Unca Wayne gets whatever he wishes from the NRL" defence. It would be closer to the truth.

Guerra was prepared to provide evidence to support Hodges who is his QLD SOO team mate.

At least he gets to play his last game in a Grand Final and hopefully happy with a runnerS up ring or whatever they receive. Go the Cowboys

Hodges has been a very good player for a long time in all levels of the game and I bet all forum members would have appreciated his toughness and competitiveness in our backline over the years.

Appalling decision
The judiciary is now just as corrupt as the referees, maybe we need a judiciary bunker

Iam okay with the call because I would rather see him sitting on the grass at full time after getting thumped in his last game by the Cowboys. He has been a gruby player for a long time so fingers crossed karma will strike

The moment Guerra was prepared to tell the panel he jumped & rolled intentionally to get a penalty, it was always going to be no case to answer.

I've seen GI do the same jump & roll on numerous occasions.

I'm just glad he gets the chance to leave the game on a high. He deserves the opportunity if it available!

30 September 2015:

In a stunning admission, Guerra told the judiciary that he launched himself from the tackle in an attempt to win a penalty. “I thought there was a chance to gain a penalty, nothing was going our way. My aim was clear,” Guerra stated.

An obviously relieved Hodges was happy with the decision. “I didn’t ask him to come here and lie. He came here and told the truth," Hodges said following the hearing. “I said to (Adam Guerra) after the charge that this is the way I felt about the tackle and if you feel the same you can come (and speak at the judiciary).”

The judiciary of Bronson Harrison, Chris McKenna and Royce Ayliffe took 10 minutes to make a decision

I think it starts dangerous precedents when we start getting players to come in and give evidence to defend players from opposition sides

it needs to be eradicated immediately

I agree that Inglis employs the same tactic but IIRC the players that upended Inglis got suspended….I might be wrong. The tackle finished in a dangerous position on his head so someone must be in the wrong somewhere. As far as Hodges deserving to go out on a high..... not so sure of that he has hardly been an ornament to the game. Good player yes but had more than a touch of grubby garbage about the way he plays. Hope we get to see his poo-eating sly grin one more time when he is sprawled out on the ANZ surface after a golden point loss to NTH QLD.

It's been happening since 1908 …good luck with that...

Couldn't agree more. Mob hitmen will now front court and the victim will testify against himself due to the fact that he has been "offered" the chance to come clean. "Your honour my hands were cut off due to the fact that I stumbled into the tomahawk, Vinnie The Nose is an exceptional human being and is in no way responsible for the incident"…..........

NRL is an acronym for Not Really Legit. Corrupt as they come.

Absolutely.

Michael Ennis missed a Grand final 2 years ago he would be shaking his head in discust how Hodges got away with that, he also got away with the tackle on Farah in Origin where he dislocated Farah's shoulder with a similar tackle.
Not guilty right oh :unamused:

Both teams will be at full strength, so it's a great result IMO. May the best team win.

Btw Guerra has admitted to trying milk a penalty by jumping into the air.

Happy Tigers is right, when they start to take the victims evidence into account we start opening a massive can of worms. I mean would Guerra make the same testimony for a player he did not like, or could a club make a very generous financial reward to a player from another club to give evidence in favour of a charged player. These are the sort of questions that people will ask.

Its up to the panel to decide if a player has milked it or not and in this case Guerra should not have any input into the hearing. The NRL will never learn, they just keep make blunder after blunder, and for the record I would have probably have let him play, their was not a lot in the incident but that is not the point

There was as much in the Hodges tackle as what there was in the McKinnon tackle IMHO. One bloke by chance happened to escape having his neck busted, the other obviously didn't have the same luck. A bloke getting dropped on his head is deserving of at least a 1 week suspension in the wake of the McKinnon incident you would think. The NRL is so full of BS it ain't funny. I bet Taupau wishes he dropped Maloney on his head instead of giving him a lovetap and copping a freakin 4 week holiday. The NRL has always been a case of ' depends which team you play for'….nothing will ever change there. Hope the mighty karma god strikes Hodges down on Sunday,it would be fitting.
