Time to bring some order back to the signings thread instead of that being full of Hodgson vs liddle let's bring it here which player and why

I don't think Hodgson is cooked i think it was a multitude of problems in Canberra his Injury for one didn't help but being stripped of capacity, arguing with Ricky about Williams having a public falling out with Ricky about that and just nrl media being nrl media took its toll on him last year I think best thing for him would be to come to us fresh start and just play footy get back in the swing of things

Injuries ...not injury 2 ACL's

Liddle had his chance this year and failed miserably. Couldn’t get his fitness up to play anywhere near 80 minutes. Service from dummy half was terrible. Hodgson almost won the raiders a premiership and it’s only his falling out with Ricky that has led to this. We need leadership and we need players with footy brains, he ticks both boxes. I’d take my chances with Hodgson and have Simpkin come off the bench.

I think its an obvious decision of sending liddle to Canberra and Hodgson here Hodgson plays 80 minutes each week, his control of the game is impeccable, his kicking from dummy half is one of the best in the game is he older yes but that's a risk we need to take for all we know liddle could do his acl this year also thats all apart of rugby league. Hodgson will also mentor jake and give him tips on how to become a better hooker and gives jake 2 even 3 years to get his body right with the mentoring of hodgo and robbie he could be a star

The connection Hodgson also has with Hastings is another important aspect they already know how the other plays that will come on very handy

Hodgson is infinitely better, but we can't get sucked into offering too much money for the second year. 500k max given his injuries, but could throw in a club option if that helps

Neither is trust worthy enough to drop the other. If you have the option, you take both. Otherwise, one goes down, you’re left with Simpkin. If you keep them both and one goes down, you still have the other. And if all 3 are fit, Hodgson at lock could be an option. If we signed Hodgson though and he goes down again, it would be Matt Ballin all over again. Some will say Liddle is injury prone too, but at least he’s ours, we’ve developed him. Different to going out and signing a guy in his 30’s with 2 recent ACL’s.

It’s interesting to note though, not once during the year did anybody claim we need to sign an experienced no 9. Now it seems to be the biggest problem the team has. It’s not though.

It’s just a shiny new toy for some people even if it is a bit old and battered. He won’t get us in the 8 by himself we need the other 6 or so players to do that.

I’d see the appeal if it were Smith or Harry. Not a player who is 3 years past his best.

It will come down to dollars .how much raiders chip in 1st yr and how much hodgson wants from then on .maybe performance based contract to get us to the finals

Hodgson 31 - Valuable hooker experience. Has proven himself as one of the elite hookers in the game.

Liddle 24 - Similar stats, tries but it's not there.

Yes but Hodgson wasn’t available during the year. If there’s an opportunity to upgrade a position, you take it. For me, Hodgson improves the squad across the season and I wouldn’t be expecting him to play every game.

Why wouldn’t you expect him to?
