Holy Cross withdraws from GIO Cup

Snake,Western Suburbs and Balmain are the Wests Tigers, both help the JV out in different ways….Wests...financially and Balmain produce the players that play for the Wests Tigers..

It is not one against the other we have been through that drama....each helps the other.full stop...

Simon,I agree,I was just trying to make a summation of the input of both sides of the JV…

I wasn't trying to show favouritism to either side of the JV....

The WT's have to take some responsibility in this

If you want a rugby league nursery you need to help fund it

Simple as that

Agree, if Balmain can no longer fund assistance, then WT should.

Well do not go crook when there is no money to buy players to assist our first grade side.

Only 12 sides play in it, and Tbh it is difficult to keep producing a side good enough to compete at that level without the junior population base.
We have Keebra in it still, better than some clubs.

The NRL don't have a clue.

about what?

they dont have much to do with junior footy which is something the current admin is trying to change but centralising junior development rather than leaving it up to the clubs.

Agreed… I think the schools program should fall under the NSWRL banner as it does in Queensland (QRL). The ARLC provide funding to them to run and control these projects, not to fund Old Boys gatherings for car dealership mogels in the Eastern Suburbs!

The NRL has its own development program, it's called NYC. It's designed to provide a stepping stone into the elite RL competition in Australia, the NRL.

This could be somewhat of a beat-up, because Holy Cross have had a few extraordinary teams in recent years, but don't have the cattle this year.

This what typically happens if the NRL club does not funnel all their juniors through the one school. My understanding is Tigers only have a formal junior pathway relationship with Keebra, though Greg's and HC have benefitted from some scholarship-type arrangements.

I don't think HC have a strong enough junior pathway, as in they don't offer enough scholarships and they aren't a sports high school, to always have a super-competitive team.

PB Blacktown have really come on since St Dom's cut ties with Penrith, and around my way, at one stage Kingsgrove HS were the dominant force because all the Dragons juniors went there. It ebbs and flows.
