Home Final at SFS

The NRL takes the gate for the semi finals, so there is no financial advantage to the Tigers that I am aware of.

"Are the plastic seats more comfortable or roomier than those at Leichhardt or Cambo? " you bet they are.

Was there this much unrest back in 05 when we played our first semi against the Cowboys at Homebush?

Not that I remember. I was there and the atmosphere was good.

Home ground advantage is created by the fans. We train at a different ground than anywhere we play and that doesn't affect the sides performance. Simple equation is that whatever the result tonight and whoever our opponents are next week is that Wests Tigers fans need to pull their finger out and get to the SFS for another Joint Venture shaping football game.

The atmosphere counts but it is all about player attitude in the end. We got pumped by an inferior Sharks outfit at Leichhardt last season and they have a pittance of fans to get them home.

Finally the corporate dollar matters. Making full use of the facilities at the SFS and presenting the best image of the club in the best facilities available in our home grounds matters. Allowing us to continue to grow, continue to be active in the player market, thus continuing the growth of our fanbase and adding to brand value.

Bottom line is that after tonight it's time to accept reality, quit our bitching and get out to the SFS next week and make it an atmosphere louder and more intense than any one of our matches at Campbelltown and Leichhardt.

I can just imagine the uproar from the 10,000 - 15,000 Tigers fans who would miss out if we chose one of our suburban venues. I'm happy to see my team play at the best rugby league venue in Sydney.

I think you'd find many of those would become members next season….opportunity lost

I dont think Ive seen anyone that disagrees with the situation state they ''taking a stand'' so to speak and not attending.
Five years is a long bloody time, Im not happy with it and i wouldnt be happy with Brookie if they decided to play there, but i'd still be going.
Too many people here - not directed at you smeg - too many here see criticism or an opinion differing to the clubs as non supportive.
They couldnt be further from the truth.
Like Morris being selected all those years, sometimes you just gotta cop it and get on with it.
Either that or chop up your membership card.

Anasta surprised by "paranoid" Tigers
Ian McCullough
September 3, 2010 - 3:39PM

AAP

Braith Anasta has accused the Wests Tigers of being "paranoid" after it was revealed the joint venture would employ security guards to keep the Roosters away from their training sessions at the Sydney Football Stadium during the NRL finals.

The Tigers have opted to use the SFS as their home venue during their first finals campaign in five years and plans are afoot to shut out the Roosters, who also play at the venue, with the two sides potentially meeting in the playoffs.

The sixth-placed Roosters have a chance of securing a top-four finish if they beat North Queensland in Townsville on Saturday and other results go their way and Anasta said he was surprised at the Tigers plans.

"It seems stupid to me. I think it's great they've taken the game there but they're getting a bit personal I think," Anasta said.

"They can have their space, we're not insecure at all.

"It seems very paranoid. It seems like they have a bit of an issue there. We're happy to take a backward step.

"They deserve the right if they finish on top of us to have the home semi and to treat it as their home ground, so good luck to them but I don't think they've got anything to worry about."

"It's a big place the Footy Stadium, I'm sure two footy teams can fit there. But if they don't want us there maybe we can just hang out at the cricket oval for a week."

Tigers to lock Roosters out
Exclusive by Dean Ritchie From: The Daily Telegraph September 03, 2010 12:00AM

WESTS Tigers will shift base to the Sydney Football Stadium for the week leading into their home finals match and will employ security guards to keep out the prying eyes of possible opponents, the Sydney Roosters.

The Tigers yesterday confirmed their home final would be played at the SFS, the arena that is just 10 metres from the Roosters' offices in Moore Park.

Wests Tigers management have been given assurances from the SCG Trust that security will be in place so that Roosters players and officials cannot walk out the back door of their offices and watch the Tigers train.

The Tigers have stressed they don't want any Roosters players roaming around the precinct while they are training and using the extensive facilities usually enjoyed by the Roosters.

A walkway runs between the Roosters offices at the SFS and it is now rugby league's version of the Berlin Wall.

The Roosters last night labelled the Tigers "paranoid".

Wests Tigers will enjoy the Moore Park facilities for the entire week leading into the big match.

"We will have the run of the house and the Roosters won't," Tigers chief executive Stephen Humphreys told The Daily Telegraph. "We will be using the home dressing rooms, train multiple times at the SFS, maybe every day, use the baths, meeting rooms, have lunches there.

"Essentially we will be moving in. The Sydney Roosters won't enjoy the normal privileges there that they have through the normal season.

"There will be security there in the area, so the Roosters don't get anywhere near where we are.

"I have spoken to the Trust and they were very accommodating with our requests and they were very understanding."

Roosters chief executive Steve Noyce was bemused by the Wests Tigers' stance.

"We will be keeping things business as usual," Noyce said. "If other people want to get paranoid, that's their problem. Maybe we will change some of the locks at our place too.

"We are just excited to be playing in the finals."

Wests Tigers had considered playing their home finals match at Leichhardt Oval.

But the SFS will accommodate a finals crowd of up to 45,000 should the Tigers and Roosters meet in what shapes as an epic contest.

"The best thing in all this is the fans. We will get them all in," Humphreys said.

"At the SFS we can offer members up to 10 tickets each, whereas, say Kogarah, they can only get four.

"It is a big win for our fans.

"The players are very comfortable with it too. They had a great experience at the SFS in 2005 [winning a grand final qualifier against St George Illawarra] and we hope to replicate those experiences again in 2010."

The NRL favours the biggest stadiums for finals matches because it claims the gate receipts.

I read this at work…..plenty of ammo and motivation there for the chooks should we draw them.

Totally unnecessary

This. We've played 4 games at LO this season, and none of the performances were exactly mind blowing, (The Canberra game was a botch-a-thon, the Cowboys and Sharks we used get out of gaol free cards, and the Storm on the weekend wasn't that good a performance either). If we get 35 000 at the SFS next weekend the crowd will be larger AND louder than anything we'd get at Leichhardt, and the 35k will be louder than the 5-10k whoever we play against brings in. It's not like playing at LO or CS gives the team super human powers.

This sort of stuff is just putting extra pressure on us, and giving more motivation and ammunition for the Chooks. We should let them train their all week and they might feel like a home game, then ambush them. This sort of stuff about security guards and rubbish like that just creates a siege mentality that can give other sides an edge.

Well I don't blame them for not wanting any Roosters spies watching them train. I hope the Roosters don't sneak a hidden camera in there before though… lol

they've released the bays and pricing for next weekends game

10 per member?

Are they serious? I mean I'm a member, so I'm stoked, but 10!

Ridiculous. I mean, we have, what 5000 members, Theoretically 1000 members might even miss out on a seat, not including Roosters member and THEN non-ticketed people.

That is an idiotic decision for mine.

I was a bit surprised too but it means Wests Tigers members can get tickets for their family members and friends who might not be members. I think you will find most members wont buy 10 tickets anyway.

Yeah they should ask ch9 and Fox not to show the game too and really put the membership drive into gear.

FFS, turning people away to try and attract them. Maybe the NRL should play the grand final at Parra Stadium and only let members in, wouldnt that grow the game!! I wouldnt be expecting a call from Searle asking you to be on the board of the Independent commission Ink.

Opposition supporters should NOT be able to buy tickets at the same time as our members, IMO.

Your juvenile ridiculous propositions to counter my point are highly amusing, and predictable

How else would someone counter such a ridiculous statement? You want the club to tell 10,000 to 15,000 fans to bugger off so that they'll join the club. Idiotic at best is your suggestion.
