Home Ground situation needs to change

Don't think the club has any plans to relocate anywhere and not sure why it is being discussed because it has been generally accepted that moving a Sydney club won't work.

just a little movement of fans to get us playing out of CSS full time 😉

Mate I’m an advocate for free opinions but I’ve got to say I’m getting sick of reading your Magpies crap. Get over it mate. Stop being so divisive in you relentless posts. Nothing to be gained from it imo. Mate post what you like I suppose - I’ll just delete you from my list

Agreed 100% the Magpies v Balmain stuff disappeared for a few years but @MAGPIES1963 seems determined to bring it back!

Gosford.

Going to keep on saying it. Just need to work out how it works for Wests

Personally I wouldn't like that!

If we are talking personally i wouldnt either but this is about what is best for the club.

Its hard to remove our favoritism and allegiances but if we became a strong and successful club most people would be won over.

Not to mention the huge amount of local support you would get if the team embraced the Gosford area.

We average 18 k at Homebush. Gosford holds 20k so were moving for 2k crowds?

Honestly i think its about more than just crowd averages.

Ive seen enough to know if we keep doing what we are doing where we are doing it we will end up in some god forsaken place like Perth. The NRL do not like us and will sharpen their knives very soon.

Whats more the corporate opportunities that come with identifying with a new region would be hard to overlook.

The only other option i feel is suitable is 4 games at Campbelltown and 8 at Gosford but then you risk alienating the massive Gosford market by not being all in ie the Northern Eagles

The question you should be asking yourself is Gosford or Perth!
As i said earlier its not about what we want.

I think the corporate opportunities lie in Sydney where the major national/international companies are and where the best stadiums are. Newy and Illawarra always struggled with corporate support, its only a leagues club group that has saved Newy.

So whats your plan moving forward. What do we do to keep from being relocated?

Something that just about every other club in every other code in every country does. Play out of one stadium in Sydney building corporate support and fan base. We've never tried that.

This is true.

But the options are not that great.

Bankwest, the players play like puss and show no heart.

Leichhardt not the future.

Campbelltown a massive risk to lose lose it all within 5 years. It may work but the risk is incredibly high.

Only leaves a place like Homebush and playing out of state teams there instead of at our spiritual home grounds will see us relocated within 3 years.

It aint a pretty picture this one you are painting.

Bankwest, we play like puss there because we ARE puss. Blaming a venue for performance is nuts.
ANZ, So souths and the dogs are getting re-located? Doubt it.

I agree on the other 2 venues.

Each to their own opinion but i blame the players for the Bankwest debacle of this season. They didnt buy into it because they are soft. The squad is soft.

Sorry you cant see we are number 1 team to be relocated. Just is what it is.

It was you that ruled out bankwest because we played like puss there, not me.

The only reasom we are number 1 for relocation (number 3 in my opinion) is because of the management of the club. Moving an hour up the road wont fix anything.

You would only move an hour up the road with a 10 to 20 year agreement from the league. It would have to come with conditions that we are safe.

You have great confidence of it working when you need a safeguard of 10 years.

Sorry but you are just being argumentative for the sake of it.

Im talking reality here, trying to put bias aside.

didn't we already get these agreements when we merged originally?

But surely even blind Freddie must be able to see there is NO better alternative, than for our Wests Tigers fortress to be located in C’town.

Campbelltown has never accepted a team playing there and have had a very long time to do so!

When the merger first happened good crowds attended
matches at CSS games were shared with LO with good crowds attending then some good intentioned person struck a deal with ANZ whilst this was a financial decision it alienated a number of supporters and caused a drop off in attendace at matches due to the quality of games on offer at both CSS & LO I think particularly with CSS I myself discontinued being a season ticket holder. With a similar sharing of games between CSS and LO in the future crowds would return.Whilst Bankwest Stadium is a wonderful venue it will never be home and playing PARRAMATTA there is ludicrous

Good luck with Campbelltown it just has been rated the worst ground by fans in Sydney ... so unless someone has 40 million plus to knock it down and rebuild its a pipe dream ! Leichhardt 3rd Bankwest 1st .

Thats why we need to get in with the new A league franchise their major backer is in construction and has already said things will be happening at CSS .Its worked out well for the Wanderers with Bankwest and you can bet your life no A league team will want to share a home ground it all about tribalism and you can also bet they will want to keep up with Sydney FC and WSW

The new A-League franchise with the construction backer is the Western United outfit from Melbourne.

Macarthur FC don't have an owner or major sponsor yet.

Details of Mavarthur FC
WHO'S BEHIND IT: Billionaire property developer Lang Walker's decision to come on board was pivotal, adding financial muscle to the bid fronted by Potentia Capital director Gino Marra. Ex-Socceroos Brett Emerton and Nick Carle gave the bid its football nous.

This is why we need to get together and talk they are already building a COE

I searched prior to making my post so that must have slipped through. Nothing official on their website or on Wikipedia. I know ProBuild are the major sponsor for Western United. Can you post the link for this?

Problem is we lose money when we play at CSS and LO, I really do not know what choice the club has! I argued for a long time we should look for our future in the MacArthur region but its to the point now with Wests Campbelltown withdrawing and the crowd support in the region that is just not a viable solution!

G'day again @cochise: you really disappoint me Cochise.

When you contacted me a couple of weeks back for a private chat, I told you that you could achieve great things, didn't I Cochise.

But now, accusing me falsely of stirring up Magpies v Balmain stuff is certainly not the way to go about it.

This is just gutter tactics.

As you already know, I have been a Wests Magpies supporter for over 50 years, and I would love our team to be known as Wests Magpies. And as I have already told you, I believe the Magpies days are gone as far as our N.R. L. side is concerned.

all I can ‘guess’ at is the locals wanted their team to be the Magpies, and I can fully understand that feeling.

It is comments like the above where I believe you show your true beliefs and agendas. I did contact you via pm to clear a few things up, in those msgs I told you that many of your posts come across as being very devisive in regards to the Wests Tigers and that I would also stand up for what I feel is best for the Wests Tigers. Many of your posts come across like you pine for the return of the Wests Magpies, as I have told you I will fight against those beliefs!

@cochise I gotta say , no where did magpies bring up the Balmain vs Wests thing. Seriously there is a whole bunch of you guys who should really support another team or find another sport , for your own sanity . Comments like "we are the worst team , we are soft" are ludicrous and devoid of real facts . How can finishing 9th every year make you the worst ?
Is it annoying ? Of course ! Depressing ? Sometimes! But whatever .
It's tough to read , and reads like a cry for help . And I'm not being a smart Alec either !
As for the moving of the team , I think playing out of the refurbed Olympic Park will be the go .
They will fix the hollow feeling when half full with a redesign , and it's centrally located .
Many teams in many cities share home grounds.
In NFL the Arizona Cardinals share their ground with a college team.
San Siro in milan . Thats without thinking. The Centre of excellence is the real Achilles heel .
Until professional training facilities , the visceral perception will be , this is the same as the best clubs in Ron Massey cup . Which then flows to other business units , because that's how perception works . It doesn't have to be real .

He is constantly stating his wish for the club to be the Wests Magpies, why as a Wests Tigers supporter on a Wests Tigers forum should I have to ignore someone continually pushing a return to Wests Magpies agenda. He may say he is 100% behind the Wests Tigers but he is not as he would jump at a return to the Wests Magpies if given a chance!
