I'm just assuming so but he hasn't played a great deal he will have to ease into the role. He looks like he's bulked up in the offseason so hopefully he won't be bouncing off tackles.

Not saying I'm sold on the idea and I've got no idea what Madge is thinking however I have a gut feeling Liddle will start season at 9 and Mbye will end up playing the no14 role which rules out Simpkins getting a bench spot.

I don't really rate Mbye as a hooker by any means however there's no denying his value as a utility which Simpkins isn't. IMO I feel it'll be Liddle or Simpkins but I doubt both make the 17.

A lot of that theory also depends on who Madge goes with at 1 as well. If Mbye is the 1 then it rules out my theory straight up.

Mbye will wear the 14 , or Simpkin if Laurie doesn’t push Mbye out of the 1 . It’s really up to whether Laurie can usurp Mbye .

Good I hope he can stay injury free and prove he's deserving of a contract extension.

The fact that Mbye is not even in the leadership group makes me think that Madge may not even see him in the 17 some time this year

We cant have a player like Simpkins who would be pushing to make the 17, be held back by a back up Hooker and fullback in Mbye
2021 is a year to decide if we go with Liddle or Simpkins for the future
I dont think we will be able to keep both
Other teams will come looking
It is for this reason I think Mbye will miss out on quite a few games
This will also have another effect in that Mbye will look at other options outside our club
Our new Fullback in Laurie will also be pushing Mbye out of the Fullback position
He didn't sign here to play reserves
So in my opinion you will see Mbye missing out on selection after after round 6 as we look to the future
Barring injury of course
Mbye will need to make a decision of his own later this year as he won't want to play backup himself
That could be a good thing for the club
Well that's my take on it anyway
