How about this?

i think its worth the gamble now. i was sitting on the fence before, but we need to make the move now. moltzen isn't that great in kick returns or under the high ball. benji would offer more in this position - and i think be more dangerous as a roaming player in attack (as opposed to an organiser)

moltzen can organise and take the line on. he has a better long kicking game than anyone else in our team. territory and team positioning is everything these days.

p.s. murdoch masilla needs more minutes. he is a weapon.

Benji's defence is terrible. Would hate for him to be our last line.

Peeling oranges for Under 8s: Moltzen

The amount of times I've seen people suggest Benji should go to fullback is ridiculous. If you think Moltzen is bad is under the high ball, Benji will be even worse. He has never played fullback. He is not a fullback. It may seem like a good idea in theory but in reality he is a five eight. However, due to our lack of a quality halfback over the years he hasn't been able to play this role. When we had a proper halfback - i.e. Prince back in '05 it or even Lui it allowed Benji to use his running game more effectively and could eject himself into the game when he pleased - instead of always having to come up with a play. I agree with Moltzen at half and BMM needing more minutes though.

Benji switching to fullback at this point? Moltzen getting his hands on the ball more often?

Why do people think this is the solution?

when has moltzen proven he can "organise"? also he has a long kick, but how accurate is he?

stop beating a dead horse.

your posts are like you're stuttering there is so much meaningless repetition.

It's pretty obvious that we need a half back. No one mentioned above is a halfback and it's probably the one position you can't play some out of position in.

It is the single biggest hole in this team, and should be he number 1 priority for next year.

How about this for the rest of the season.

And leave it at that.

I think your right Hellman We have to stick to a combination come hell or high water Sirro will take another week or 2 to get full confidence with his knee

If If If we were to try someone else at 7 Chisholm has to be next option , at least off the bench can play a multitude of positions worse case

Ellery,

The guy is just making a point. I don't find your posts particularly enlightening either but out of respect for other people's I don't slander your opinion. You have been here 5 minutes, let people have their say without getting personal.

Under 8s might be a bit tough for Timmy, I hear their bombs get some height…

Yeh Ellery - settle down a bit. It's a forum where people have the freedom to speech without you jumping all over them.

It's a tough choice for Sheens this week - historically after games THAT bad, he would probably play moltzen from the bench the next week.

Reddy straight into the number one, put Moltzen at 14, and if Reddy has a shocker, then Sheens has an excuse to hook him.

It also leaves an option for Moltzen to come onto the park and use his running game, which I still think is the strongest aspect of his game. If only he could have persevered with being a halfback…

When we do not make the eight with Moltzen at fullback, it will be interesting to see what some people say.

You can bet your life that it will not be Timmy's fault. Pick either Timmy, Sheens or Moltzen.

moltzen has played around 10 games at half and done so successfully in these stints. we have persisted with marshall for 5+ years and still aren't getting the results we should from him. why does he have to have prove himself beyond reasonable doubt in this short period when we persist with other people for so long who are still unproven? sheens put moltzen at #7 in the pre season before tedesco was injured, so he knows he is capable..

how accurate and consistent are marshall and farahs kicks? we have one of the worst kicking games in the comp.

beating a dead horse? haha you mean like the consistent scrum moves we do that have little to no impact, or running straight back into marker? or kicking on the 3rd tackle straight to the fullback/wing when there is absolutely no advantage of doing so. our team beats dead horses every freakin week and i am sick of it..

everyone can see we are 50% of the team we should be. better tossing up suggestions about what we could do to combat this issue than sit back and shoot em down like what we currently have is the solution. because its not.

i say fullback because i think attack wise, its where he'd be best. centre is another option but then benji may not see enough ball… i just think back to 05 when pat richards scored that try in the GF, all started from a benji marshall kick return... i am pretty sure this wasnt the first time that season that marshall caused trouble for the opposition from the kick return..

i conceed that defensively and under the high ball its going to be a risk. but moltzen is a risk at the moment. so why not take a gamble? it paid off for barba... i just think if we are any chance to be genuine title contenders we need a change... we might make the 8 with our current structure, but i will be incredibly suprised if we make the GF let alone win it...

Moltzen gets his hands on the ball more at six and will be able to do what he does best: be a running five eighth.

CB - I think you are pretty close to the 2013 line-up. Except swap Ryan for Teddy. Moltz will be at the back for the reaminder of 2012.
