How did Jennings go in trial #2?

Jennings is a proven try scorer with a decent centre inside of him. He hits the ball up hard, is very safe under the high ball and defensively is sound. He has lost weight and looked faster than last year. What we all forget in the 9s is Cook was chasing him and even so managed to fend him off.

This is actually a good point Paws, he did seem to have a bit of pace when running away from Cook. I'd have him in my starting lineup over Nofo.

I thought he went well, a big improvement on last year. Did plenty of the dirty stuff. Went to the blood bin for a cut over the right eye , didn’t appear to be serious, just butterflied. On his return to the field he continued to be solid. Looking for work, without a lot of opportunity. I put more than half the team in that category.

No, he hasn’t.

If you didn't notice CT joining the backline on both sides, providing flat passes to put players into holes and throwing excellent cutout passes you may have been watching the wrong games.

I think you've mistaken CT for Doueihi. He joined in backline plays. CT offered support play. If Doueihi can learn to support more he'll be very good.

Arguably support play is more valuable to this team the way it's set up. We have Luciano, BJ, Nofo and Brooks who are among the best in their respective positions at offloads. Mikaele and Garner have shown some ability in that department too. It might be part of the attraction in keeping Thompson at fullback.
Not expressing any preference for Thompson over Doueihi, just making an observation...

So you didn't watch the 9's and trials.

You're taking this a little far.

Disagree with alot of peoples views tbh. Thought he ran it hard look solid on returns and went lookong for work.
Will be hard to see who takes the wing spot between him and thommo. Heart says thommo , head want a jennings size

Might get Nofo's

i think jennings while not spectacular he did the good hit ups much like nofo would do
think he gets one wing and the other is
nofo great scoring potential and terrible defence year after year
thommo all heart but doesnt do the nofo hit ups
slight edge to thommo

I do not think there is much between the 3 to be honest ... the problem with CT is he is way to light and easily contained. IMO the club needs to sign two wingers as these three amigos do not really add that much !

I thought he was bog average tbh. I was really hoping he’d come good but I just don’t see it. He is just plain lazy and doesn’t run with any aggression.

There is no way he can play in front of Thompson, Nofo or Momi.

Unfortunately bog average gets you pretty close to a first grade start at WT. Probably our weakest position.

Madge has done fairly well so far. Watched the replay of the trial today, Walters looked pretty good at hooker so we might have a capable replacement until Liddle is right or Simpkins can be brought on.

I know the rebuilding forever mantra has to end but I think that he's done phenomenally well thus far and has managed to plug many holes. If all we're worried about is wingers going into the year given how our offseason started we've done well.

Jennings seems to be lighter this year but still a big boy, if only he was a yard faster and had a jink in his running style he would be a gun, he would then be a bigger version of Thomo, and vice versa, imagine Thomo in a Jennings body, Phew!!

He was more aggressive than last year. He’s fitter and was running in a lot to get it over blokes he seems more confident with his size

It's funny you know how dislike of a player wants you to see things in another player so he can be replaced..Jennings was solid but nothing to get excited about...was ok when the ball came his way and on kick returns but hardly went looking for the ball at all..

Interestingly there was one glaring error early in the 1st half when Mbye put him in a bit of space and he tried to get on the outside of Herbert but failed and was tackled almost in to touch but lost the ball anyway trying to get rid of it...didn't get much of a mention in the live thread or after...had it been the other winger tho hmmmmm...

Good point Geo, our bias can allow us to overlook errors like that in particular players. I remember that play for a couple of reasons. Made me think about how a winger like Sami or Fox would have had the acceleration to get around Herbert, given the amount of space Mbye gave him. I thought the better option would be to give it back to Mbye? Which he did try to do too late in the play. I don’t like being too critical of players performances during trials. There’s a lot of competition for positions

There is one thing I don’t like about Jennings the way he waves the ball around in one hand while in traffic makes me nervous 😥 lol. It’s a family trait.

He should be braining them.

At souths i thought he was simply falling over the line and copping the credit.

He needs to get involved and be our Fergo
