How did Josh Reynolds go today

@Tweed_Tiger agree. Cronk and Keary had the luxury of playing behind a pack with great line speed and go forward. Brooks and Benji did great to keep us in the fight with a lot less to work with.
A couple of consecutive errors and Cronks kicking game let them back in and with a great side like that, thats all that they needed.
lve been critical of Brooks plenty of times but not tonight - certainly not the perfect game but held his own against quality opposition.

Wow!

He was awful. Completely fell apart when we needed him most.

@The_Patriot. - ive seen what happens when we have fallen apart against the Roosters before and its been ugly. That wasnt the case to night. 10 minutes of poor play - and cant single out Brooks for that loss.

Its hard to be a 7 behind wet towels, getting slaughtered at each kick and trying to make something of nothing. McGuires shifting game says it all: Our forwards suck so move to the edges.

Brooks should just hand the ball over on the last rather than lob it meekly to the opposition's fullback. Chickens forwards spent the night targeting our kickers late and low. Benji stepped-up, Brooks went AWOL.

@69-05-41 Was disappointed by how the referee let the late shots on the kicker slide and even more by how our team didn't return the favour nor that they stood up for the Benji or Luke. I like how Brooks fought back a few times though. He's come into his own.

@2005magic numbers on the back of a jersey mean nothing nowadays. Benji is controlling the game clearly, he has a lot more touches than brooks does and has a far better kicking game than brooks does especially his short kicking game... Brooks' kicks frustrated me tonight a lot.

Oh yeah, he controlled things so well we lost after hitting the lead with a stack of momentum. Funny how noffa continually runs out of the line allowing opposition to score, everyone sees it, Marshall does the same and it's every one else's fault that we lose.

The other school of thought is that after those couple of softening up blows Luke went to water. Rest of the night he never took on the line and ran sideways a lot. His kicks were all a little rushed and none of them overly successful.

Not really what you call coming into his own.

@The_Patriot Marshall made some great plays tonight which Reynolds never has been capable of making.

Savage but true.
Beautiful cut out pass for Jennings try,
Spiralling bombs,
Good grubbers
Apart from the odd grubber these skills aren't in Reynolds skill set

@avocadoontoast he cost us 2 tries by rushing out of the line, but his attack was good.

Which tries. I can't recall any being Benjis fault. The Mitchell break from inside his 20 was Esan rushing up, not Benji. Esans job to mark his opposite centre but he opened the gap between him and Benji by rushing up and Mitchell went inside and through

@Toowoomba_Tiger the first try and the Radley try. Both times he rushed up and they scored through his gap.

On the second one Esan had to go up because Benji did. If they both hold the line there’s no gap.

@The_Patriot I meant that he's come into his own in the sense that he has the confidence to defend himself and show that he's not going to take that crap. That's why I said that Brooks fought back a few times.

I know what you mean about his play though. I think it did make him think a lot more about what was going to happen when he received the ball on 6. He rushed it a few times. In general if we compare him to opposing halves we've played this season I feel like we can say he's a good player but clearly in a tier below the best.

Benji was his usual self. Rocks and diamonds. You don't win games with rocks and diamonds. That's why we don't make the finals. The fact he's dominating the team is awful news for the club, he needs to take a back foot step and let brooks manage the team.
Reynolds is a good foil for Brooks as it allows him to manage the team. Reynolds can do other things to help the team, he's not there for game management, and neither is benji
