How didn’t some see this coming?

I’ll put my hand up.
By the end of last year I hated this team, hated the club, was embarrassed by everything Wests Tigers. Wanted to burn it to the ground and stomp out any player who holidayed in my part of the world.

Then I decided to take an optimistic approach to this season. We’d brought a couple of new guys in, had discarded our trash and had signed a couple of proper players, including our up and coming prop. I thought quite simply, we had to transfer our momentum off the field to performances on it, as ending up down the bottom would harm our chances of bringing in an X factor star to compliment these new signings.

I was a believer this year. I did see this coming but chose to believe it was my pessimistic relationship with this shithole club rather than reality. My bad. It won’t happen again.

How dare you have hope. You’re only allowed to expect the worst.

It’s not about not being allowed. People just get very defensive when reality interferes with their fantasy. And that goes for anything. Politics, religion etc. One thing I have learned the last few months is that there are a few topics within this club that are as divisive as politics and religion.

Guilty your honour.

I wonder how much our thoughts on this topic have changed since the firestorm of late March was immortalised in these pages?
