How to beat Manly

**Can't remember there being many, if any, upsets this year. I think this game will go down the same way.**

Schuster, J Turbo and T Turbo are the danger players in attack.

If you watch Manly, most tries feed through their hands.

The Manly backline sits deep and as others have said, limiting time on the ball with line speed is going to be important.

Once Manly get momentum, they are hard to stop. Looking at our last game against them, it wasn't necessarily that they cut us open at will. We simply missed a number of one on one tackles that led to tries...lazy defence.

Manly will score points against us no doubt, but their defence isn't the best in the comp either. We'll have our chances, but we need to limit theirs. Sadly, I don't think we'll have the answers.

WT have won 6 games this season, 5 of those wins as underdogs.

If there were no upsets this year then we'd be 0-17

You think Newcastle, Saints and a Penrith team missing 7 players are upsets?

We need to have a simple plan, get off the line and nail the middle, nail the first and second receivers. Find the grass with long kicks and chase like pig dogs. Build pressure and don’t let up for 80min.

Canberra showed last night that line speed is what troubles some of the good sides as this limits their time to create.

I am nervous that Saab will continue to jump over Noffa or run around him all day though

I think the slow line speed we’ve shown against sides like Eels, Storm, Manly is more a reflection of our inexperience? A reactionary style of play, as opposed to being on the front foot , taking the game by the scruff of the neck. To do this the players need to have a little less respect for their opposition and more for each other. It’s how QLD win games.

The other issue , and its a common theme in all our games against high placed teams, is we make simple errors and can’t defend them. Stupid stuff like dropped balls in our red zone, dropped balls in their red zone, thrown over the side line, giving 6 again on tackle 5. Minimise errors and we give ourselves a chance to build pressure on the opposition, not the other way around

theme of this round has been: inside pressure and line speed.

The longer and better you do it, the more likely you are of staying in the game.

Get up and in their faces.
Shut down their halves.
Let their forwards experience the joys of nature by constantly driving them into the surface.
Tom Turbo is quite often good for a long cut out pass, be wary of this and pounce in it.
When the game is over, would be nice to see the opposition walking off with many bumps/bruises and some spilt blood.

Oh dear, we are in trouble then.
Ronnie will need to be chasing them with a cattle prod.

Saab is opposite side to Nof thankfully.

What happened to that box of magic dust that he had.

Don't tell me he used it all up on one game.

If we want to beat Manly we have to get that Wests Tigers guy that blew away Turbo on the Corso.

While we are at it, see if any of his mates are any good.

I’ve wondered that myself.
I fear it may have been single use only.

Manly forwards are beatable if we aim up in the forwards we can make it a close game

Agree. Raiders beat them mainly because they had 57% possession, due to completing at 90%. We’re getting better at hanging onto the ball.

What do you know.
Madge said pretty much the same thing I said as to how to control turbo.
Must be reading the forum for coaching tips.
