My point is this. We’ve achieved nothing yet, and it wasn’t long ago that we were considered the biggest basket case in the league. Getting the club back to functioning “normal” is not an achievement. It were we should always be. Let’s stop with the congrats, and pats on the back, and all good feelings and smug smiles until WT actually does something worth congratulating themselves about - like making finals or turning a profit, or staying out of the headlines for bad reasons…

I don't know mate, a lot of people could see that the management has been strong for the past few years. I know my posts have always been that way.

The way they dealt with Farah lobbing grenades into the club was exceptional. I don't think I could have bit my tongue the way they did.

The speed in which they uncovered and fixed the cap issues had to be commended. The board rightly got rid of Mayer and put better managers in charge.

They've built a seemingly decent proposal for a COE with little to no funds, raised membership dramatically during turbulent years as well as the sponsorship money. Particularly a good move to replace Harry T as major sponsor to offer arm length 3rd party deals.

Ok, the coaching appointments might not have worked out well. But honestly, they probably picked the best options available to them at the time. We got lucky with Cleary.

We're also about to reach breakeven - I have absolutely no idea how they did that with the level that the team was performing at. That is amazing for an NRL club that has very little assets.

I think the problem is you've been reading too much of the telegraph. You realise that creating drama sells papers right? That they have motives to embellish on issues. They're also in the pockets of agents, so if you have an Ayoub or Issac Moses lobbing grenades, there's not much a club can do besides try to take the high ground - and that's what they did.

Marina rightly deserves praise. It's been a long road to get where we are. The wins are just the icing on the cake.

You lost me at “Farah lobbing grenades”.
I didn’t need to read the rest. You are obviously a slavishly devout “club management can do no wrong” type. What a surprise - player agents and the Tele got a run too. Newspapers aren’t in the business of taking orders from player managers. In fact, virtually every journo detests agents more than the clubs do. They refuse access to players, regularly threaten lawsuits for defamation and libel and are only interested in journos when they have to sell a “fluff piece” to make their client look good. As for Farah - What kind of club were they running if a single player had so much influence ? And, if he had so much influence, why was it that he ended up in reserve grade and then ultimately Souths ? Likewise, if Farah was the problem, why was it only 3 rounds after finally getting rid of him was Jason Taylor sacked ? And if Jason Taylor was the problem, why did our 3 best players leave the first opportunity they got ?
Credit where credit is due. They finally pulled there fingers out, hired a decent coach and set about rebuilding from what is a very low base.
But, I’ll say it again:

We haven’t achieved anything yet.

We are now in a position that virtually every other NRL club is at.

This is where we should have been all along.

Stop congratulating people for doing a job literally hundreds of people at other clubs manage to do.

I am not satisfied that as a club WT is the same as the rest. I want more. 2 wins and a new direction is a start, not a destination.

Let’s start with “clubs going good” when we are actually going good for more than a couple of rounds….

The speed in which the club has headed on and off the park has been unreal. Credit where credit is due. To be a financial RL Club is almost unheard of. How many other clubs in Sydney can say this?
On the field, we seem to be going ok as well.

Hi Bob, look, like the others I actually agree in part. We're only back to a level playing field. But I think your argument falls down in a few areas

1) You're muddying the water between old and new administrations. Lob stones at the old, sure. Mayer did a horrendous job and to some extent Sheens. They created the terrible culture, lack of transparency and financial constraints that this new management had to unravel. But you can't hold these guys accountable for the mistakes of prior administrations. What they've had to do was never going to be done overnight.

2) Winning friends and influencing people - I assume you've never worked in a management position, or if you have, you would have had high turnover. No matter who they are, people need affirmation when they're on the right path. You need to know when to lay the boot in and when to celebrate wins. Otherwise, you're going to lose good people and only attract bad. Most of my positivity is that I truly believe these specific managers have done a good job repairing others mistakes, opening transparency and growing the club, like my prior post. But a small part is also making sure, even as supporters, we are sending the right message and being positive about our club when it's going well. If you're too hard to please, these guys will wonder why they even invested 3 years of their life to repair this club and put up with the rubbish, like they have. They're human like anyone else.

So, ok. In summary, as you say, you want more. You want to grow the club further. So your solution would be to only applaud people when we're at the final destination? In a business that has rotating board and chair. Rather than people who have done the hard work to set up the structures for the path forward?

These guys have done more than any of the managers at other clubs. Some have just had to coast because they've had the resources to cover bad decisions or they found themselves in a club with structures already in place. Our guys had a small mountain to climb, with no money, and did so through a barrage of criticism.

The fact you compare the last 3 years of their work to managers at other clubs is most telling of all. I don't think you completely grasp it all.

Patriot is, for whatever reason, thinks that I’m either a) pretending to be someone I’m not or b) a really poor troll. I’m neither. However, both of those shoes fit rather nicely on the Patriot, after all. So does massive hypocrite, but that’s “putting others down”, and I’d only be confirming his rubbish posts. After all, according to him, Disagreeing with someone and having a different point of view is “talking myself up” and “putting others down” plus he has had 3 guesses at my identity, when in reality Im a nobody. Like I said, I’m me - weststigersbob. I’m also a regular poster on Facebook. If you regularly post there too - you’d know who I am. That’s it.
